It does feel like if you dropped your season ticket you’ll struggle to get to the games you want to see.

Agreed. The club have been clever and the value of having a season ticket has increased. I think there was a long time when we were all a bit complacent about ticketing availability. I froze my season ticket last season but still attended a lot of games. I got tickets for all of them with ease. This year is different - the Haaland signing and being another year on from COVID has increased demand in ways that I would not have expected.

I've previously complained in other seasons when it seemed unjustified, just like you.

Just wait until you see this years financial results later this year.

Yeah, the club definitely don’t need an extra £2.4m from us fans. Even if 39,999 of the season ticket holders can easily afford the price rise and just one fan has reached his threshold, it’s still one fan who is missing out.

No course not. It’s good to debate and have differing opinions.

As I say, I’m okay and can afford it but it really grinds my gears when I see people saying they can’t afford it anymore. I know dozens of City fans who used to go but don’t anymore. Almost all of them are because of the prices and being unable to get the cheaper tickets as there are so few of them.

I work in a school and some of the kids there think it’s magical that I have a season ticket, there are two lads who to ask me to just show them the mobile ticket on my phone and they always give it ‘woah!’. Their parents can’t afford to take them unless it’s an early round FA Cup game (of which the tickets for next season have gone up 140% from £25 to £35!).

To be fair those prices are max. The games this year under the cap were Chelsea, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal, so they were always going to be the max.

But usually when they’re lower league teams, they’re well below max. Often a fiver or even a quid for kids.

A warning to City, and to us fans if you`ve ever been to the Nou Camp as a neutral "tourist" fan, it`s awful. At the lesser games it`s like a morgue. Champs League games are played in front of half empty stadiums. Watching Barcelona isn`t all that it`s made out to be, and that includes when they had Messi in the team.
Price out the hardcore and you`ll kill the atmosphere.

What are fans prepared to do about this?

There are a few things supporters groups can put out, but without the masses getting involved they won’t work.

I’d be reluctant to do anything that affects the atmosphere at our remaining games this year (walk outs and disrupting games off the cards).

We (1894) have tried to pressure city on ticket price rises for years and nothing has worked.

That leaves options like:

- Post match sit-ins
- cup scheme boycotts
- platinum membership boycotts
- protests at CFA

These things could work. But they would require people to actually do something and get involved (rather than sit back and hope 1894 do it for them). They require solidarity and sacrifice from the majority. Would people get involved? Because if not, there’s nothing we can do.

Genuinely open to any feedback or suggestions.

That is precisely the business model they are pursuing, but they won't be honest and admit it.

So it's just like the compulsory cup scheme other clubs have had bad publicity for , but we are sneaking it through the back door , a way to get extra money out of season ticket holders that they know most will pay, why not just be honest and add the price to a season ticke

I’m surprised that anybody would consider giving up their seat right now when we’re on the verge of world domination for £35 a season… it’s less per game than the price of a brew in Asda

I think it’s complete naivety on his part to the situation. What he sees is a full stadium making no noise. Does he understand maybe why that is- probably not? You could argue I guess it’s whether you really believe the reason the stadium is quiet is cuz of neutrals /new fan boys or just a lack of support from even legacy/local fans?? His comments aren’t about a lack of support as in numbers, but is more about a lack of noise

I do agree with you. I don't think it's the tourists killing the noise. But the more you charge the more you expect to be entertained. You're becoming a paying customer rather than a fan. I do believe at times that increasingly plays a part.

For midweeks I leave at 4 and get back by about 1. Because I'm a bad dad my 13 year old is allowed to come with me. Happy for him to comment if he invests in understanding, otherwise it's just lazy soundbites. Anyway, bottom line is I'm just grumpy about it so blaming everyone I can think of at the club.

As soon as I think if a reason the cleaners and groundstaff are getting it next :)

But that today was one of the biggest shambles we’ve seen from our club since the takeover and I just find it cheeky as fuck for them to tell me they want more money off me next season after they’ve fucked off four of my mates and thousands of Blues in general around Madrid.

no need for everyone to fall out about this on here regardless of opinions- there are two sides to every debate and this is also a personal matter to each person depending on their own situation. Even though this fortunately doesn’t affect me (RM or season ticket) I don’t hate the idea of a banner reminding the club of what it’s priorities should be. There is no denying business or not that city as a football club is capable of not just being sustainable but thriving regardless of the extra few million they make off the season tickets. A banner saying as much as Madrid- no criteria, Season ticket- price increase. Forcing legacy/local fans out, No atmosphere, heart etc. clearly gives the message that the way it’s going we are forcing the local working class legacy fan out of being able to attend these games regardless of his support levels over a long period. Regardless of whether you think the price increase is reasonable or that new fans should get an opportunity surely that message is one we can all get behind

The thing is with that, it’s never just £35.

For some people it’s £350 because they stopped being able to afford it when it got to £400 but have been sacrificing other things for years and this £35 rise (it’s £60 for me so may be even more for others, by the way) might take them to £785 and is now the point where they just can’t afford it anymore and can’t sacrifice anything else to be able to.

A tip to save money on renewal - look to see where the Chumps League final is - if it`s somewhere that would be a ballache to get to don`t join the CL Cup scheme.

We have been season ticket holders for 14 years.We went to silver due to having problems with our dogs, we had to sell many tickets back to the club for the same reason. The dogs are no longer with us, so we hoped to revert back to gold or platinum.
The email from the club states that this is not allowed. We were unaware this would be the case.
I am unable to see any reason why we cannot revert back, other than the club wanting to make extra money from our seats, which probably works out at an extra £250, to the club, in total.

This is what I mean. You weren't informed that you couldn't upgrade them again if you downgraded?!! It's disgraceful. If they were transparent and told you at the time then fair enough but it doesn't seem to be the case. I'd be complaining if I was you and hopefully others in the same situation do too.

They seem to be encouraging others to do it again this year. Conveniently omitting the fact if you drop to Silver you are stuck with it going forward.

Bloody hell, someone could PM me a fifty line long tirade of abuse calling me every name under the Sun and I wouldn’t fall out with them. I’ve never put anyone on ignore on this site and never would.

We’re all Blues here. Many are just looking out for other Blues who can’t afford it, others are just backing the club we all love… we’re all just passionate around it all.
