James McAtee

Interesting to see what 2 players, if any, we loan to a Premier league team next season.
Probably do deals with championship clubs again.
If Southampton do get relegated, I can see them calling again

I don’t think there’s any limit as to how many players we can loan out to other PL teams?

Given that you cannot loan more than one player to another club in the PL, then the limit is 19
How many players can a club loan out?
The new FIFA regulation concerning loans is that a club can only loan out 8 players in a season. This rule also applies to all Premier League clubs.

Might need clarification on this.
My understanding is that we would not be able to loan out 19 players , one to each Premier league club.
I've read a few things on this and it is as clear as mud to me.
I thought a limit was placed on loans within the Premier league and I doubt it allows for 19 loans.

It's a maximum of 8 players loaned out but U21's and club trained players are exempt from that rule so in effect makes no difference to the status quo whatsoever (unless the rules have changed again :( ).

I don't think there's a limit to how many clubs you can loan to.

have you watched David silva play before?

Why are you always so obnoxious and needlessly abrasive?

You constantly accuse anyone who disagrees with you of not understanding football and you have said you think you have a better tactical understanding of the game than Pep Guardiola.

Given how infantile all of that nonsense is, I'd wager that the majority of people on this forum have watched a damn sight more of David Silva than you have. And in person, I might add.

Would be ideal i think to leave him at Sheff U for another season. Playing every week in the PL in a team hes now settled in and understands the system will be far more beneficial than a season sat on the bench getting a few minutes here and there.

I personally think that would be far from ideal. It would be comfortable, for sure, but not add much in terms of his development. He turns 21 in October and has already learned as much as he is likely to at Sheffield United. Let's be on honest, they're unlikely to see as much of the ball next season, so they'll be adapting their system and all he would be gaining would be working on his defensive duties and more match fitness. That scenario might benefit Tommy Doyle, but McAtee needs to be pushed in a more attacking environment. My preference for him would be to return to the Etihad, or, alternatively, if we are intent on signing Bellingham, maybe loan Dortmund McAtee for the season.

Dortmund will rather buy McAtee so they can sell him big later than loan him.

I'm sure they would, which is why my preference would be for him to stay in Manchester and start his first-team career proper.

It will be tough no guarantee that McAtee will ever make it, only Zinchenko after been loaned able to make it to our first team and he only become a squad player not a regular starting player, not saying McAtee and Zinchenko is similar quality wise but it's still difficult for McAtee. It's alll up to him next season if he stay and fight for his place like Zichenko did and maybe it will be succesfull than Zinchenko does, time will tell next season if he given a nod to stay.

Yes, I and others on here have long thought that we need someone to go on loan but then come back and claim a position; it would encourage others in the academy to think that the loan system is not merely a staging post out of the club. McAtee has the technical ability to play a host of midfield positions and could probably come in and deputise for Grealish/Mahrez/Foden next season; we do know that Guardiola likes players to start off wide and appreciate the bigger picture.

He might be a good player but is never getting his chance to play at city ahead of our options in the wing. and if foden has not played midfield mcatee has even less chance of playing there. so no he is not making any impact here anytime soon.
Pep has already said he’s back with us next season mate. He’s very highly rated within the club.

Just announced that he's won young player of the year for Sheffield

Well done lad.

Other than Foden.. McAtee is the highest rated prospect from the academy in the past 15 years. He's even better rated than Rico.

Ofcourse there are no guarantees.. just like there are no guarantees for Foden or Rico.

But it is reasonable to think he will be given a role in the team where he's not expected to do a lot right off the bat and phased in over a few seasons like Foden was.

He may well take Palmers place with him going out on loan.
Possible, but if we didn’t think it prudent to send Palmer out on loan this season, then we may keep him next season as well. Mahrez is contracted through to 2025, so it could well be time for Palmer to start understudying him on that side. We may have an embarrassment of homemade riches.
