I doubt they will this timeThen you’re disagreeing incorrectly. You’ve just argued my exact point. Of course it’s political. The blue rinse brigade overwhelmingly vote Tory.

Small point of order EB, but the state pension is not a ‘benefit’. You paid in, as you were told you must, and now you are taking out.My take on the pensions increase is that I never take it into account whichever party deigns to give us a rise. I paid PAYE all my working life (a full stamp not the married women's one) so I feel that I am entitled to the rise. I receive no other benefits and, apart from Family allowance as it was then called for the three younger children, never have.
So I am sorry I've paid my dues. :-)
And because I paid into the Teacher's Pension, which was compulsory, I am slightly over the limit for any other benefits. Not that I want them apart from a Blue Badge which costs very little. The people who don't have an extra pension need it more than me.
So I vote for other issues not pensions rises. :-)
The majority will but it won’t be even close to enough.I doubt they will this time
ThankfullyThe majority will but it won’t be even close to enough.
You might be in for a shock :/The majority will but it won’t be even close to enough.
Are you including yourself in that? ;)Should rename this The FOC Thread
Well I'm not pensionable age...... just yet ;)Are you including yourself in that? ;)
You forgot to include your free bus pass/ £10 Metrolink and train pass in your OAP benefits Sheila. My take on the pensions increase is that I never take it into account whichever party deigns to give us a rise. To be clear, I'm not a tory voter, but the alternative offered from Labour is weak to say the least. On the subject of pensions, because thats what this thread is about, have they offered any assurances of maintaining the triple lock? Not that I've seen. Yesterday (or the day before) Starmer was asked about the Waspi situation. Of course he used all the correct buzzwords, but when pressed refused to offer any real insight nor indeed any real support, saying it's a matter for the courts.
In short, both parties are as bad as each other
hehe I'm not, but I'm not a labour voter either, don't vote unless there is a raving monster loony standingI reckon you're telling fibs.
Most probably aren't, but the scheme I was in has just increased the payments by RPI, I think for January, which was just over 13%.Company pensions are going up by nowhere near that amount.
I think basically both parties believe that the triple lock is unsustainable, but neither dares to outright say it because it's political suicide. It's basically who blinks first. You might be in for a shock :/

not voting..the worst of all. You give up the right to have a moan about anything political. Just shut up and take whatever comes at you. Harsh but true.hehe I'm not, but I'm not a labour voter either, don't vote unless there is a raving monster loony standing
Nope, had this discussion before on here, I'm making an active decision not to vote because I don't trust what any of the fuckers say. Put someone up who even hints at being trustworthy, has a semblance of a plan which doesn't revolve around rhetoric, and answers a question when asked, and I'll be off down the polling booth faster than a scouser to the benefits office. Until that time I'll continue my refusal to accept whats on offernot voting..the worst of all. You give up the right to have a moan about anything political. I think you're absolutely spot onI think basically both parties believe that the triple lock is unsustainable, but neither dares to outright say it because it's political suicide. It's basically who blinks first.
Surely you have 13 pay days peer year ie 13x4 weeks in a year not 12x if paid monthly? No I get mine on 30th of each month
Benefits went up by the same amountTbf the only people the Tories look after are pensioners, hence the 10.1% increase despite inflation heading in the other direction as I type.
