Now players will understand that firstly the season did not end with the Premier League and the celebrations for it and that secondly in the 2 finals we have, the opponents will not go out and gift them to us.

Yeah, find it a bit weird. If we're not going to play him in his best position, why not give him a rest. Seems strange to waste his energy in a position where we're not even getting the benefit of having him on the pitch.
