The issue is that we don't even know for sure who is going yet. And our people are very tight lipped about things, in general. Every time I get nervous about it, though, we win. So let's see what happens.

Agree. We do face the challenge of keeping everyone happy, dare I say it being 'holistic', but as you say the midfield is getting rather creaky. Will certainly be an interesting summer. Even if we are successful on Saturday, we face the problem of maintaining such high standards again next season, which might be difficult if a nucleus of our key players have emotionally peaked; they've wanted this so desperately for 3-4 seasons now that a drop after a win cannot be ruled out. Similarly, if we are unsuccessful on Saturday, perish the thought, we face the problem of addressing an ageing midfield that might just not have the engine to go the distance again. Not much riding on Saturday, then...
I can see Phil playing inside more, in which case we could buy a winger who would ultimately replace Mahrez anyway.

He should cut his ties now,and go and rebuild at a club more suited to his quality and where he can play every week.
Allegedly he already rejected Newcastle and some other offer as well. He doesn't want to go. Don't know what to make of it. I want the lad to do well, but I don't know if it's going to happen with us...

You'd assume that Newcastle could offer him a similar salary, and he can't look at the medals he'll have won this season as ones he's deserved.

That suggests to me that he's confident that he can force his way into playing much more next season, and if he thinks that, why not stay at City, where he's likely to win more medals. I'd guess that Pep has given some indication of whether it will work, and would be clear with him, if he thought it was a waste of everyone's time. Pep is much more likely to bed in players early season, and he's played so little that it really is almost a first season for him, so I wonder if he thinks he'll get chances in the Autumn, will at least have played 10-15 games, and we'll all have a better idea of whether he's got what it takes.
