Teen dies in electric bike crash in Salford.

I'd hazard a guess that it'll have been one of these sur-ron bikes.

Top speed of 50mph but loads of companies doing remapping/upgrading to make them even faster.

My estate is full of them, although at £4k+ a pop, most of them will be stolen.1000005020.jpg

They are but they are also not legal for road use in UK. For bikes 15mph max with pedal assist, throttle 4mph max anything outside of that requires type approval for road use registering and the relevant licence and insurance etc. They are the modern equivalent of mini moto's from the 90's took a few deaths before they started confiscating and crushing which is the way these will have to go.
Agreed mate, I was driving in failsworth last week and kid flew past me I was doing 40 he was travelling a lot faster.

Police will end up confiscating them on them spot!

Got to happen. seen people calling them electric motorcycles the vast majority aren't (although some are) as they are not certified for use on UK highways regardless of what licence you hold or how old you are, they can only be sold for off road use. Screenshot_20230609_174855_Chrome.jpg

Most kids are dickheads at some point in their life. Some are nasty bastards, others are just daft bastards, but taking risks is part of growing up.

Outliving your child is probably the worst thing any parent could experience.

It doesn't matter whether he was a 'bad lad' or a 'good lad', he was somebody's son, and it's a terrible waste of life.

Rest in peace lad.

BBC News, local bloke saying it was the police following him that made him go fast and crash into the ambulance.
Utter shite
Regardless of the veracity of that comment, if you're not breaking the law the police have no reason to take an interest.

I work with this lad’s aunty. Quite sad how these accident will continue to happen due to souped-up e-bikes which can travel up to 50mph ridden by clueless kids with no crash helmets etc. The police should have the power to confiscate any e-bike they see which is travelling at stupid speeds.
That’s probably what the dibble were trying to do as he was being chased/ followed

Yep the young lad should take no responsibility whatsoever, Police’s fault nothing to see here. I’ll remember that if ever I’m pulled over for speeding.
“ Not my fault Officer, you were following me which made me put my foot down so it’s technically your fault.”
Open and shut case!
