It's Quiet 18 - Wanna ring the bell?

I love Bernardo and I really want him to stay, it will be unbelievable hard to find him a replacement. But what will help us to renew his contract? So this year he has no offers from Spain, next summer the same story will happen again and if there are offers he will want to leave again. It's not like he's in the last year of his contract right now. If he commits to his future here, it should be a real intention to stay here with us for another 3-4 years without talking every summer about his desire to leave.

Things can change very quickly though. Easy to take for granted that we got through most competitions. We could have just as easily been knocked out by Southampton, beaten in the FA Cup 3rd round and been fighting for qualification in the CL which would have meant Ederson plays 99% of the games and Ortega is on the bench.

If he wants to stay then fair play, we can sell Steffen and Trafford to bring in some extra income.
He says about being settled. It’s more than just playing time he’s clearly factoring in his family. Maybe if we have a bad year next year he’s goes but he signed off on a high.

That would make it what, three consecutive summers of nobody wanting to commit to signing Bernardo?

On the one hand, I'm delighted if we get to keep him.

On the other, I'm almost offended on his behalf that clubs aren't queuing up to sign him. He's far better than most players getting signed by the big clubs these days are!

The thing with Kalvin is we've had players in the squad say he's one of the best passers of the ball in the entire squad that his passing is incredible. That's high praise, we just haven't seen it as fans due to injuries and his stop start season.

He might be. But that is not going to make him succeed here is it? Positioning/making himself available to teammates, the ability to keep and pass the ball accurately under pressure etc....are much more important.

Just give him benefit of doubt mate, one of the reason he didn't get played is because he getting injured and need a major surgery. He rejoin the team in middle of season where Pep cannot afford to give Philips playing time to adapt him because the difficulty is already ramping up in all of competition.

I'm not the one he needs to convince, Pep is. Pep has seen him in action for a year now. And if that report is true, Pep has seen enough to evaluate his capability.
