Is rice creative enough to be a number 8?We played more of a diamond in midfield in the CL final than the box W-M formation. I wonder if the idea would be that Rice would be one of the side 8s and play as box-to-box, rather than thinking of him doing Stones' usual role. Maybe Rodri dropping into CB and Rice at 6ish when OOP.
I'm not sure about the ability to learn that technical quality at allAgreed, technically he's good but not on Bernie or Gundo's level, what I like about him though is his character and mentality he's a real leader and would definitely improve us.
if he's coming and replacing Phillips thats a good deal, as a number 8 i dont think he has that intricate quality that our system requires, although he could definitely learn it playing under per for a few seasons.
