I trust the Club, so if we are actually in for him I know Pep will have a clear plan for his role in the team - but if me much happier if we were in for someone like Szoboszlai instead.

Absolutely agree. If Gundo and Bernie were both to leave it puts an incredible amount of pressure on an aging KDB to do so much creating. Would love another attacking midfielder unless they think McAtee can do it (which I don’t think they’d take that risk on)

To be honest, we've missed out on lots of players, even in the last 12-18 months.
We missed out on Vlahovic and ended up with Jesus, missed out on Martinez so signed Zinchenko, missed out on Mudryk so signed Trossard.

Rice I do feel is different and I posted about that a couple of days ago, but I had resigned myself to him going to City, so if we miss out we'll just need to get someone else.

No club always gets everyone they are in for, not even City.

They also have Havertz, if it’s the Chelsea version and they try to win any of the cups they’re in I think they’ll struggle for the top 3.

As long as they are above those twats from Old Trafford who’ll be in 5th

I agree, but we don’t throw all our eggs in to one basket. We also don’t bid for players unless we know they are open to our style, beliefs and togetherness. We target several in the same position with the intention of rotation, nobody is guaranteed a starting spot, even KDB gets dropped at times. You are throwing it all or nothing style at Rice, like he’s the saving grace.
 
Can’t understand why so many blues are getting in a tizz over this? We’re in a position where it actually doesn’t matter and our success won’t depend on one signing. That’s what we’ve worked for all these years - so sit back and chill, enjoy reading about fans from desperate clubs for whom this doesn’t apply. Self satisfied smug smirk required…….

Again, I’ve been saying this all day. We don’t NEED Rice, Arsenal do.

This is where I sit also, just like I do with Bellingham - you either come to City and help us win, or you are part of an arsenal side that gets twatted by City. Again.
 
Must admit I was keen/am keen on Rice as a replacement for Phillips, in essence to provide rotation with Rodri and Stones in his hybrid midfielder/centre half role. Not convinced he will ever be a great attacking threat in a box to box type role or what's convinced anyone he could do this. Whatever happens , not getting Rice does not weaken us.

My one concern with Rice would be if his top consideration about his next next move involved anything other than winning trophies. If he is not hungry for silverware would be worried about signing him. Its not about playing in the champions league its gotta be about aiming to win it (even if you fall short).
