He was supporting David Bowie - Glass Spider Tour.
Not too many 12-year-old's can top that as a first concert?
Alyson Moyet was also supporting and loved her voice ever since.

I listened outside in a deckchair. My folks went to the concert.
Listening to Radio Gaga and the crowd clapping sounded incredible.
Roger Taylor called me and my pals mancy bastards after the car he was in (he was pissed with women in the back) stopped for directions to the players' entrance the night before the gig.
All the women on our street came running over to his motor and we smashed our football against it.
Found out in later years he was a red bastard.

Saw T.Rex at Belle Vue when I was 12 - believe me, seeing the Prettiest Star at his peak tops seeing a past his best Bowie at MR.

He was supporting David Bowie - Glass Spider Tour.
Not too many 12-year-old's can top that as a first concert?

Saw the Queen gig. Missed Bowie because I was on a 5 month secondment in Nashville, Tennesee; think I had tickets but had to sell them. Would have been there if in the country.

Getting off topic here but my mates and I went into a Motorhead gig at the Apollo and literally cowered at the back of the stalls behind the seats to try and avoid losing our hearing. We got in for free due to a friendly doorman we knew and didn't stay long.
Ironically, the only gig I've been to that competed with that Motorhead gig for ear splitting volume was a week before Bowie played his MR gigs. Motley Crue at Nashville Arena, which was painfully loud.

I was at the Bowie gig July 87, first night where the great man went up in the glass spider. Council stopped him doing it for the second night because of elf n safety.Saw the Queen gig. Missed Bowie because I was on a 5 month secondment in Nashville, Tennesee; think I had tickets but had to sell them. Would have been there if in the country.
Great gig, TTD was excellent too although IRL I thought he was a but of a pain.
