Good Lord, a wordy view from Grimsby's chairman? Manages to name SM as owner but then suggest our financial support to be 'sovereign'. The link popped up on my msn homepage and the title suggested it may discuss some points talked of in these pages, ie legacy fans and newbies, ticketing, pricing, but he just seems to meander into a rabbit hole of verbal pomposity. And, of course, no mention of local regeneration.
He managed to include a ship though..!

I see the chairman of Grimsby Jason Stockwood has been persuaded by the Guardian to partake in a round of Anti Man City bingo!
It isn’t really that negative, but it’s a bit odd, based on how he thinks his City-supporting father-in-law might be feeling after winning the treble and imagining his celebrations were a little subdued. Couldn’t he just ask him rather than making stuff up?

"Manchester City’s ownership tests the values and connection of a fanbase"

Sorry if I see this headline as negative. Perhaps its just me being too sensitive.

As for the father in law and his "subdued celebration", given the background information I guess he must be in his late 70's / early 80's? At that age I guess most prefer an inner glowing satisfaction rather than throwing beer about or wrecking the front room furniture!

It’s a strange, poorly written article. I don’t really understand what point (if any) he is trying to make.

That's what a lot of them are like though isn't it @Ric? They don't really know what they disapprove of, they've been brainwashed by other media people or, in Mr Grimsby man's case, the need for publicity for his nonentity club I guess. :-)

EDIT: I confess I didn't read the article because I get so sick and tired of reading negative stuff about us I try not to read them these days.

That’s not like you x

Every club is important to those that support it.

It’s just the guardian sports desk trying to get different people to push their editorial narrative against our club, and trying give it a veneer of external credibility
They usual suspects don’t want to appear too obsessed and so tag in a features writer or business hack every so often to do their dirty work for them

*hangs head in shame* you are quite right @gordondaviesmoustache I must be in a critical mood this morning. Every club deserves to have loyal supporters but none more so than Manchester City.

Apologies to any Grimsby supporters but please explain to your owner that we are not a bad lot. :-)
