the moving of goalposts this summer has been remarkable. I remember we started out suggesting kovacic will not be gundo's replacement. Now we are talking about losing gundo & mahrez and replacing them with just kovacic, but somehow if we keep bernardo (without signing a new deal meaning we'll likely lose him on a free eventually) then that's fine?

actually, where we started is hoping to ADD members to a thin squad in the form of a bellingham.. Now no one is even hoping that next year's squad will be bigger than last year's.
Exactly mate. As wonderful as we were last season, fortune favoured us re injuries; 2-3 injuries to key players (heaven fucking forbid Rodders, Kev or Johnny) will screw us in my opinion.

I couldn’t disagree more.

My opinion is that none of those four are anywhere near good enough and we are very light on quality attacking midfielders.

We desperately need to sign proven, international class players especially with so many games. Without that we’ll be over reliant on a handful of regulars with the risk of injuries from overplaying. We don’t want to be facing tricky away cup ties relying on Bobb and McAtee or we will either lose or have to bring on the likes of Kev and Haaland to turn it around when really they need a rest.
The four young players mentioned haven’t shown anything like the required level in order to be regarded as reliable backup, or indeed occasional starters.

Bobb looks a promising player but is very raw, Palmer has the talent but his end product remains uncertain, Gomez still looks below the level required and McAtee (in the limited time provided) doesn’t look to have kicked on after his loan to be honest. The only real highlight for me has been Lewis’s performance against Bayern where he looked much better in midfield, but we kind of knew that already.

To put it into context, Foden is the best young player the club has arguably ever produced and has five PL medals to his name, but Guardiola still appears unsure of whether he can be trusted, so to speak, playing more centrally. That shows the levels we’re dealing with and why we need to add a couple of top class players to the squad, in addition to hopefully signing Gvardiol.

This won't go down well with the needy on here :)

It's always been that way even back when i'm not signed for this forum yet and just being a silent reader back in 2018.

The club management couldn't careless what the fans will think about the club transfer plan and policy, they will make decision on what they might think best for the club regardless what the fans think of it.

So far they doing a good job and i still have faith for our club management over somebody on internet who thinking they are expert on running a multi billion club.

Assuming those goals are not replaced by others. We are on the same page though.

I think Grealish and Kovacic have got to up their numbers from previous seasons. Don't mean that as a criticism, just that they have got the capability. I also expect Foden and Alvarez to really kick on next season.

But it all feels like a bit of a coin flip and the coward in me wants to sign another player who is an absolute shagger in front of goal.

Risk brings excitement, and could be huge reward. Imagine if McAtee, Bobb, Palmer and Gomez really thrive. Imagine if Kovacic replaces Gundo's goals. Imagine if Haaland scores more and Foden becomes the boss in centre-mid.

Coin flip is the perfect metaphor to describe our market activity thus far. We appear to be taking chances when we really shouldn't need to be given our resources.

Goalposts..

He is talking out of his ass and he knows this. He has been pushing the cliche line “stick with four center backs” for months. So in his head the club will have five CBs to play in one position plus a defensively inept Lewis. Lol. Cancelo had the most minutes by a defender until he left. Walker and Laporte played a lot as well. Does anyone really think Pep and Txiki will lool at that situation and say one player (Gvardiol) can take up the minutes of three meanwhile we supposedly try Lewis in other positions? With players unreliable fitness wise as Stones and Ake. This doesn’t pass the most basic smell test. Show me one of these correspondents who even slightly predicted the Akanji signing

If we do lose any more players and don't replace them then our bench in particular will look pretty threadbare. We could have the likes of Bobb, Mcatee, Palmer, Lewis on it for prem matches, assuming they all stay that is. Good players but whether they're ready is another matter

We spend hundreds of millions of pounds a season, have commercial deals and sponsorships relying on us being at the top and successful. Anyone who thinks the club will accept a risk or gamble the operation on “ifs” and kids doesn’t understand the business of football

I can't wait until Pep leaves and rather than sign a new manager we just get Tits Out Jackie, Pete the Badge and Rico Lewis to share the role between them.
There are people here thinking Enzo Maresca will be the successor and all will be fine because we never do things wrong

Notwithstanding that a club with our resources shouldn’t need to take an almighty gamble on a handful of untested youth team players in the hope they might be good enough, I’d say there’s some serious wishful thinking going on there rather than imagination. Kovacic scored 4 x PL goals in 142 appearances for Chelsea. It’ll be some surprise if he manages to replace Gundo’s goals…….

You'd be happier if you had a hobby outside of this place. Most retired people who find something outside their home to keep them occupied live longer and are happier people.

It would be a shame if you died relatively young and all you had to show for it is being prolific, and generally disagreeable, on Blue Moon.

I love the gif you did of your yourself and included in your post. Is crossdtessing your hobby? If so, you can disregard the above because I'm sure you get turned out quite often.

What if Ederson contributes with ten goals from goal kicks? You can’t rule it out…

All our club resources is not going to be used only for transfer you know.

Even if we do have, we are not going to spend it just because we can for the sake of it.

Hardly spending for the sake of it when you’ve just let 2 of your 6 senior attacking midfield players leave and not replaced them……
