Remember when we got the Gvardiol story a few weeks ago about us allegedly agreeing a fee, what happened then, absolutely fuck all. Hope this latest news is different and something concrete happens, might be exactly the same again though

Based on how quickly it's all been wrapped up? The deal that still, to our knowledge, hasn't been wrapped up?

The fact that it has taken as while (as far as we know) doesn't change the fact that it is a simple negotiation. If we walk away now, that won't mean it hasn't been a simple negotiation either.

Right, but you aren't basing it on anything at all - you are asserting an opinion - yet decrying others to hold their opinions until they are based on something. The reported evidence (months of talks, deal getting close/deal breaking down, positive talks with a different negotiator from Red Bull etc) would hint towards the contrary.

Yeah it is crazy how one single tweet can change not just the whole narrative here, but also the entire supposed background and timeline. So much colouring in, so much blank space.

No one really knows what's gone on, but it was tweeted as a "done deal" weeks ago at €100m and that is still the same price being stated now.

Feels like Leipzig tried to play dirty to get more money and City dug in until Leipzig came back to the original agreement.

Can't fault anyone in this, it's a more sensible way of conducting business negotiations than throw-more-money-to-get-it-done-in-a-day that the rags seem to favour.

I'm also impressed that Gvardiol stayed quiet throughout this saga without the kind of media tantrums that Mbappe etc would have done. Speaks well of his character, even if City were telling him they'd get the deal done it was never 100% certain.

Maybe just a couple more days of flight tracking and food-related conversations and it will all be over. For me this will always be remembered as the Vim(p)to thread.

What happened was someone leaked it out and pissed off both parties, stalling progress
