Joao Cancelo | Al Hilal Player

If we sell well under his normal market value I don’t see that as a good thing as it sends a message that all a City player has to do is cause trouble and another team gets him on the cheap.

Pep rather loan him to the rags rather than see his face on training ever again back in january.

That's how bad the relationship between him and Cancelo. Yeah it will be below market value but if Pep still pissed and not wanting to to see his face in training then it's best to get him out of club as soon as possible.

I can see where you are coming from but he didn't do it on loan at Bayern & doesn't have clubs banging on the door to sign him. Would Barca be interested if they weren't in a financial mess.

20m would be a very deal or is it just rental fee for one year?

If he goes there and starts every game he wont cause any problems its dropping him for just one game he sulks

Agreed but it's not just that stuff though. He could be such an incredible player if he worked on his weaknesses. But it's starting to become a bit of a Pogba situation where he's approaching 30 and people still talk about his potential.

Seems a pretty low risk/high reward signing for them though if they can get it over the line.

But it doesn’t happen often - Cancelo is just made that way. That’s why, on the whole, we’re exceptionally careful with our signings both in terms of cost & character

Very unlike us to sign a knobhead.

We need a few knobheads to stop any intimidation by other teams’ knobheads. I like to see players who never take a step back if someone else is a gobby **** or bullying one of ours, and to get in the ref’s face if dickheads like Fernandez are trying to con the officials.

Yep pushing 30 too

We already have so many players that never step back and love the physicality:

Dias
Silva
Rodri
Grealish
Haaland
Alvarez

I think we’ll have to accept a relatively low fee, given our desire to get rid of him and Barcelona’s financial position. It’d be worth it just to get him off the wage bill permanently though. He’s on £250k a week for the next four years, which is about £50m in total. In an ideal world, he would’ve moved to a Saudi club for a decent fee, but that seems to have gone quiet.

If we can get his wages off the book permanently I’d even get rid of him for no fee. He just isn’t worth the hassle

Difference between character on the pitch and off the pitch (in the dressing room and on the training pitch), though. Grealish and Dias both pretty good examples of that.

hope we get a fee closer to 30m than 20. cannot see anything higher now especially with "cant register new player, another lever pulled" Barca. even if only with a must buy clause + loan.

Or alternatively we could agree a larger fee and let them stretch it out for several years, as appears to be the case with Torres.
