With Kev out we have a front 6 of
Rodri
Foden Kovacic
Bernardo Haaland Grealish

Reserves
Alvarez Palmer

We're obviously light.
Yeah, one additional player missing, like Bernardo tomorrow, and we literally have zero senior attacking options on the bench. We need to sort out these Paqueta and Doku deals asap.

Yes, a lot, but I also watch a lot of football generally.
I hope I don't give the perspective that I wish for the team to suddenly be filled with academy players. That isn't what I would want, for us nor for them. I am talking about one academy starter in each game, with one substitute. Currently, that would really be one player from Bobb, McAtee, Perrone or Palmer. I know Perrone isn't an academy player, but I am talking about young players elevated to, or new to the first-team squad. In cup games I would start two.

In my opinion, Palmer, Bobb and McAtee are worthy of it. I wouldn't give the opportunity to players below their level. Here we have fans clamouring for a player like Doku, who it is doubtful they have even watched in a live match, rather than give Palmer an extended RW opportunity. For me, that is madness.
its good that you have such knowledge of the players, agree some people always want new players, we've got phil and rico playing quite regularly , i really don't know about the others though

You can either name matches of where he played RW, or you can't.

You can name how many matches he started last season or you can't.

If it's no to both, then I think we're done here... \0/
It was well established early in the messages that Palmer barely played last season. And specifically when he played he barely played RW because he had Mahrez and Bernie ahead of him.

Yet you started asking specifics on how much be played as if it was some crutch or got ya moment.

In reality it was neither and your point invalid.

25 appearances in the season just gone, to a total of 850 minutes. An average game time of 34 minutes. How many at RW - I don't know. It is also true that he suffered with some personal issues last year.

According to TransferMarket, he started 2 Premier League games in the whole season. In ALL competitions (other than internationals) 7 starts.
Pep sees him in training every day. I'll happily rely on Pep's opinion on whether Cole's ready to step up or not.

Whatever Pep thinks, judging by his game time, I'm inclined to agree with baldy.

Look at the difference in effort Pep showed in trying to keep Dog, Mahrez, Bernie & Walker here?

With Palmer he said Cole's concerned about playing time, so we're talking to his management, & we don't know if he'll be here or not next season. Make of that what you will...

Or, we give them game time.
If you can name the EDS players that we have given an extended first team position to, outside of Foden, you're a better man than me. Now, I obviously trust the coaches, but I do not believe that we can dismiss talents like Palmer, Bobb and McAtee, nor Gomez, without giving them regular first team minutes. Personally, I would like one to start every game, and one to be a substitute. In cup games, I would have two starters and another sub. It is no good judging these players if they come on for the last ten minutes, or if they come in as one of ten subs in a a seriously weakened second-half friendly team.

Guidetti, Delap, Brahim, Tosin, THB, Edozie, Lavia, Gomes, Doyle, Bernarbe, etc etc have all had people on here wanting to give them minutes in the starting XI. Most of these players didn’t even make it in a major league let alone at our level. All of these players were very good at the EDS level. Most of them have gone on a journey of learning to play with men. It’s ok, this is the pinnacle of the sport.

You watch a player like Fofana go and play in l1 for a bit and make it or Brahim take multiple moves to find it at Milan…. that’s the more probable path for these kids and that’s OK. I absolutely adore McAtee but he had to go to the Championship to adapt and it took him a while there. Now he needs to go to a lower level Prem team and try to make a step up.

Winning the title for the last half of our exception reign has meant dropping points with only 3-5 losses and a similar number of draws. You basically need to take the full points in 25-27 of 38 matches. It’s a crazy high standard and we can’t afford to have young players adapting if we want to maintain our level. You might be OK challenging for fewer titles and playing more youth but it doesn’t appear to be a compromise our leadership is willing to make.

I hope that this year changes that.

As fans we get so hung up on keeping academy players that it blinkers our view.

Pep would have him in the team like Rico. Palmer is a good player but as you say pep has already said he can go or stay. So no real determination to keep the player.

We can’t keep them all. Sell for £30m now and if we have made a mistake we will soon find out. Pep wouldn’t be after Doku if he wanted palmer imo.

I hope that this year sees a change, but it is up to Cole to prove it. He had a number of injuries last year and you can't really prove yourself with such limited starts.

No. It was established early in the exchange that these are YOUR claims.

Over to you fella... \0/
Palmer playing little is my claim?

This is just a fact.

Having 2 senior well established players ahead of him on RW is also a fact, Bernie even benched Mahrez at the end.

Anyways, its clear to me now you lack basic reasoning skills. So have a good day.

So with also seeing him in training too, Pep got Palmer's playing time all wrong then?
Not necessarily, but this season represents a different opportunity, especially now. The facts do say that he didn't really get a good chance last season. The reasons are only really known to Pep and Cole.

Palmer playing little is my claim?
There's an obvious reason why this was the case in a treble winning season, where earlier on we were struggling for bodies & consistent form.

The opportunities were there. Pep evidently didn't think he deserved more chances than he got, & thinking about my disappointment with Cole's performances when afforded the opportunity, I'm with Pep on this one.

Not necessarily, but this season represents a different opportunity, especially now.
How so if he's shown little improvement since last season? Has the PL got easier over the summer?

We've the same pressure to perform & need the finished article, not to be carrying apprentices learning on the job, like we're a YTS scheme...

Well, Palmer has a huge opportunity to claim his worth for starting spot now that Mahrez is gone and Silva probably shifting to the middle after KdB's injury situation. No better time than this for him imo.
