i think quite simply nobody knows at this present time and its just all speculation, laporte, cancelo and thb definitely go, palmer id say will be dependent on incomings.

A big name out seems unlikely as its not really how city do business and who is there to go and who could afford them even if they wanted to go

City see no value for players. Trying to haggle a fee that is acceptable it seems. The transfer market is crazy right now and we can’t seem to find an acceptable landing zone.

Abit like Liverpool. We have an acceptable level for players and so far clubs are demanding £15-30m more. Maybe we could melt down the super cup to generate income? -:)

Very slow and undercooked in the market which is understandable but still frustrating.

The market is in a bubble due to the Saudi Money, but I think if City are looking for a big money move, they will be looking at players from teams who are struggling financially and so have some advantage in negotiation. Maybe we have our eyes on a Barca player. Personally think it should be Frenkie

Valentin Barco gets the tolmie seal. Don’t know much about him but if Brighton wanted him for their first team, that has to be good enough for us. Good addition, albeit we won’t see him straight away as he’ll probably stay there for a bit, like Alvarez did.

So someone big might be coming or going and we are overpaying on a release clause?

well what an absolute shame for barcelona that is, barcelona need to stop playing the woe is me card, they got themselves into this mess and didnt give a crap about other clubs why on earth they think other clubs should help them to get out of it is astounding arrogance

That seems a bit crazy to me. Paying 2x just to make them feel better about it?
They probably see them as a key production line or something and see it as a good investment long term. Borderline bribe for first dibs on future talents! Weird one, but interesting nevertheless.

Fair point but consider enzos fee after a year in Europe. Worth it in the long run to keep signing cheap players from their league. How much is Alvarez worth now?
Don't really get this argument. What about the huge number of players that doesnt become an Enzo or Alvarez? Why would it be "worth it in the long run" to pay twice as much as we need to, wouldn't that just set a precedent that we are always gonna pay more than needed? The reasoning that if we pay twice his release clause now it would for some reason make them wanna sell their players cheap to us in the future is backwards in my opinion, it will more likely have the opposite effect.

With that said, if City are willing to pay 20m for a player from the Argentinian league, we must be pretty certain that he will be a first team player with us. Thats a bit much for it to just be a CFG signing. And if we think this is an Enzo/Alvarez level player, 20m is still cheap.

We are willing to pay 10+add ons, so 20 if he becomes an Enzo/Alvarez. Not bad work.
