Lucas Paqueta investigated by FA for alleged betting breaches

I’d like to know if West Ham knew anything about an ongoing investigation during the time that we were supposedly negotiating his transfer. Or were they in the dark? I wouldn’t put it past Dildo Sullivan to try and flog him, knowing that there was this hanging over Paqueta!
Yea but why haggle on the price then? I think and it’s only my opinion that they tried to deter us from buying Paq by asking for £100m to keep the betting story quiet. When city wouldnt go away, West Ham had to reveal the investigation. However, it also wouldn’t surprise me if the FA only told them after city stuck a bid in

Maybe not and they tried to fuck us.

West Ham will regret not pushing through the deal when we slapped £70m on the table, saying he’s worth £90m instead. Guess what lads, he’s worth fuck all now! Not even a penny.
Maybe they knew already about the investigation, but for some reason didn't tell City team. Instead they reject the first bid and demand an unrealistic price knowing that City will never pay over the odds. Who knows, i'm just guessing.

How did City find out about his betting investigation?
Maybe someone at either the FA or Premier League leaked something, as it would’ve become a whole lot messier if the deal had actually gone through. Feels like this came as a bit of a surprise to all parties. Doubt negotiations would’ve got this far if either side knew.

If West Ham is looking for Mohammed Kudus as a replacement for Paqueta, why don't we try to sign Kudus ourselves? Much more reasonable price for a squad signing.

Its not like its just a big coincidence this came out now. These news most likely came out as a result of our due diligence, so it would have come out before we signed him regardless if they had accepted that 70m bid or not :) With other words, there is no chance we would have signed him whatever fee they wanted.

Shades of that floppy haired muppet at Brentford smugly saying that Ivan Toney is worth £100m, then 5 days later Toney was banned for 8 months for betting offenses.

You would hope one of the F.A. of Premier League would inform us as soon as we shown serious interest! Be interested to know for sure how we found out.

“Txiki is useless”
Txiki is certainly not useless, our results speaks for themselves and he is one of the best, if not the best, around. However, making sure a potential signing is not being currently investigated for a crime before making a multimillion investment is not what makes him an elite Sporting Director, that in particular is the the bare minimum I would expect from anyone in his position.

I don’t think he was really saying that Txiki deserves credit for this; more that the criticism thrown at him when news first broke about the deal being off was ridiculous and hyperbolic.

Could be a blessing in disguise as it forces us to rely and give big minutes to our academy players in Palmer, Mcatee and Bobb.

----- Foden ------ Silva -----
------------- Rodri -------------

Kovacic as back up to Silva and McAtee/Bobb as back up to Foden.

Palmer/Doku right wing.

That midfield still has more talent than any other PL team, we just need Pep to weave his magic to get them to click together.
