Newcastle United (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Just watching the recording of the match. How fitting that the goal build up was Rodri, Walker, Kova and Phil. All 11 were magnificent, but these 4 were particularly magnificent.

The other standout points - how were we not playing against 10 or less last night, and how did we not get anyone stretchered off? Anthony Gordon is a snide shithouse ****
he definitely should have been sent off

help chat!! was on the road and missed the match, saw the highlights, is the match worth watching? or is one half worth watching?

Kovacic has done far more at this stage of his City career than Gundo did.

I love Gundo, but for the first couple of seasons he was ordinary, he became a great player in his last 3 seasons.

Kovacic has been outstanding so far, and I am sure he will become a lot better.
Gündoğan was our best player in the second half of the 2018-19 season. Rated as the best player in Europe from February to May by Opta, so it was longer than the last three seasons.

Considering our injury situation and the teams lack of fitness at the moment, I thought that our performance was outstanding. Newcastle are a decent side and I think that they will do really well this season. We looked good when pressing and robbed the opposition of the ball on so many occasions.

Shame that Erling couldn’t have taken at least one of his chances as that would have produced a truer reflection of the game. For me 2-0 would have been about right.

Very good performances from Phil, Kovacic and Rodri in particular and I don’t think that Newcastle actually created too much having only 1 shot on target.

In my opinion Gordon was very lucky to stay on the pitch and a different referee on a different day would have sent him off. Just another example of the inconsistency in refereeing decisions.

We looked a bit light on the right hand side and would like to see a better balance, but using this level of opposition as a marker, I can’t wait until we are back to 100%.

He was one of my favorite players and for me the best value signing in the Pep era, I was replying to a poster questioning Kovacic.

Absolutely, add Bernardo and Stones to that line up and we can go up a few gears in what they can do. Foden was quality yesterday, get him close to and feeding Haaland and we will see more goals happening. As a whole City controlled Newcastle and they didn’t seem to create much against us. Gordon should have walked yesterday for those two naughty tackles.

it was our wank tram timetables and buses not running after midnight, which was what I posted about

also I know many berts are accomodating as your coach is but I know of a supporters group who had a half full coach tonight and when a mate of mine asked if his teenage son who lives 5 minutes from their drop off point could get a lift back (and willing to pay if necessary) they refused like he was some leper and would be happy to leave a 15 yr old in beswick then give a lift on a night game
Beehive bus broke down about a mile from ground before ko. Had a fancy replacement coach waiting after the match and arranged for the old timers to get a lift from stricken bus to ground.

They were getting talked up before the game but I thought Newcastle were a shower of dirty cunts. Should have had more yellow cards and could have got two straight reds. Not seen it back but the one when Joelinton injured himself looked a shocker also.

We mainly contained them and they didn't do much apart from about a 10 minute spell second half, which didn't translate into them creating anything of note.

We played well I thought and should have had more goals. Erling had a few good chances. Controlled the game and were the better team.

If you bring your child up a rag you're a wrong un
Contrary to the song, my Father did not say to me one day ‘is it red or blue for you, and if it’s red you’re out the door and we won’t see you no more’.

Despite both him and my Mother being Blues (and all my grandparents), he told me to take my time thinking about who I wanted to support. Rather than making me support City like he and Mam do, he actually asked me what team I wanted to go and watch and what shirt I wanted to wear.

He has always maintained that brainwashing young children into what the adult wants them to be like is the wrong way to bring a child up. He was open to let me be a City, United or Altrincham fan. It was up to me.

Same for everything, despite him being a staunch atheist, he sent me to a CofE primary school because it was a good school and he let me work out for myself there is no god and religion is bollocks (which I’d worked out by the time I was about 8), just like he let me work out for myself that City were the right team to follow.
I guess there weren’t a great deal of atheist schools to choose from

This puzzles me every time I hear "Pep will be gone in 2 years when his contract's up".

Why? Where else in world football will he face this level of competition week in, week out, & get the level of support he currently gets from our board?
have you not visited the transfer pages it might be worth your while to just how poorly supported and frustrated he is ;)

See if you guess whether these comments come from RAWK or Rag Cafe

Genuinely think Erling might be the worst controller of a football we've had post takeover.

i don't understand erling's positioning. is he trying to make himself as hard to find as possible? Every time there's a chance for a cross he's nowhere near a good position

Fuck me grealish is shit

(Erling’s) Body language has been poor on top of it.

just know were going to fuck up

Haaland like bambi on ice sometimes. difficult i suppose

Haaland has been shocking, need him to hold it up

Jack greilish has offered Jack shit, I'd put Palmer on.. What the bloody hell is Haaland up to? Just kept running into the net
