Not always.

One of the recent "clarifications" that mean the laws are now more than twice the length they used to be since Stanley Rous revamped them in the 30s.
It might be a clarification, but it isn’t a change in the law. It was one of the questions in my ref’s exam thirty years ago!

I’m shocked. I honestly am. Sly Sports using Rashford and Manchester United to promote their PL matches. I honestly didn’t expect that. I thought Sly Sports would have used Haaland, the last season’s PL‘s top goal scorer, and Manchester City, the current PL Champions and Treble winners.

It wasn't in law 11 thirty years ago. I don't think it was put in the law until no more than 20 years ago.

Dermot Gallagher agreed that Walker was active even though he was off the pitch, a new one on me.

Yes I didnt know that either apparently even if you are off the pitch behind the byline you are still in play
It's one of those dormant rules they bring to life for City, like that '3rd person complaining to the ref' one where Ruben got booked last season... and no-one else did for the rest of the season doing that and worse.

Saw some interesting news the other day. The Barclay family, who owned the Telegraph till recently, had to surrender ownership to Lloyds Bank over a debt they couldn't meet. Lloyds are looking to sell it of course, and it seems the Barclay family are planning to buy it back, with financing from Abu Dhabi.

Seems like they may have adopted the mantra that if you can't beat them, join them.
