Player that everybody loves but you think is overrated

He's young so this might be harsh and there's a chance he could come good but his price tag and hype warrant a mention...

Enzo Fernandez, he's a passenger in every game I've watched him in, yet everyone I see who talks about him says he's class.

I watch a lot of football so I like to think I'm able to spot something in a player but I haven't seen it in him.
He looks decent, but if you compare him to someone like a young Cesc Fabregas, he was already running games at that age.

Bobby Robson was about as calm and measured a mentor and manager as he could ever have hoped for. Who could have guided Gascoigne any better ? Two people from the same part of the world, father and son type relationship etc. He also had Terry Venables at Spurs.
Yeah you’re probably right but what an absolute waste of raw talent. Who knows how he would have turned out.

Not a bad shout, I really liked him as a kid for us at West Ham but never felt he was good enough for a Top 4/6 club or England.

Also , another one I’ll chuck in the ring - Owen Hargreaves.
I'll give you Hargreaves. Didn't think too much of him

Carrick was excellent for Spurs. Pretty much ran out midfield, it wasn't until we finally signed Modric we filled the void.

He was a wonderful passer and confident on the ball. He kept things ticking well.

I think with with everyone raving about Gerrard, Lampard, Scholes he went under the radar. Even people like Scotty Parker got spoken about more with his full of energy style.

I feel like Carrick and Barry were never rated that highly for neutral fans in football, but I thought they were both capable players, if anything underrated for me.

Stephen Ireland. Always thought he was crack

That one season he was sublime!! I really thought he was the real deal.

His career went down the pan bad!!

The pink wheels, the flashy aquarium, the wig, the bullying, granny gate, bust up with Mancini. Ended up being more drama than an episode of Brookside

I see a photo of him the other day he played for Newcastle. I didn't even rememeber that. I could never work him out

Have you seen his interview where he’s says he never felt he was out played or dominated by Scholes Gerrard or the like?

he was the last generations jadon sancho, just another in a long line of players who thought they were big time before they were

I hate to say it, but.... Balotelli. Yes, I know.

Technically and skills he had could have been as good as anyone in the world. Infuriating and didn’t work hard enough which is why his career is where it is right now, you could immediately tell in any game when he started when he didn’t fancy it and was more than often the first sub off.

Strange take but... KDB I think he's a fantastic player but friends that only watch motd highlights think he's incredible,
I watch every minute live and watch the other 8/10 passes that don't come off not just the 2 worldwide that TV shows .they won't believe me that he was getting moans off the terraces last season .
I repeat he's an absolutely brilliant player but TV watches rate him higher than me .

While I think he fell off quite rapidly due to injuries from his peak, Kanté was one hell of a player at Leicester and his first few seasons at Chelsea. He won Leicester the league playing in a double pivot with Danny Drinkwater, dominated us in the Champions League final and played a huge part in his country winning the World Cup.

I get its a thread of opinions but that isn't too bad going for a useless twat!

Whilst I take all that on board and cant argue with any of your points listed, I think my post absolutely nails the thread title

Ok, I turned it on , perfect timing for Walker’s goal - best player for England by a mile.

Rashford, Henderson of the ones the red fanboys live for, for some inexplicable reason which is not based on football prowess.

Rice… meh… seems similar to Mount, hyped up but doesn’t do much.

Maguire I think is reasonably ok, as long as he’s not playing with united, ie has a decent teammate around him (eg stones).

Kane, unless he’s got some decent playmakers (eg foden) he’s pretty crap at influencing and winning a game.

But overall I think the prize goes to Southgate, playing Henderson is a fake hype to far, and it’s not down to henderson , he doesn’t force to be picked by any meaningful football sense, unless Southgate needs someone on the pitch to do the bleed in’ obvious pointing… of which Henderson is a master of the bleedin’ obvious.

Kane is quality

He's one of England's best playmakers and he's not even one.

He's one of the few English players that I think is genuinely world class.
