Newcastle (A) | Wed 27th Sept | EFL Cup | Post Match Thread

In his interview just, Pep may have well just said fuck off I can’t be arsed taking to you.
At times it is as though a chord is pulled in his back like a kids doll which says the same things.
As a gentleman I feel sorry for the female reporters, as he’s equally as dismissive.

Those who think Phillips is good enough need to give their head one fucking huge wobble.
He just is not able to do what’s needed here.
Another lack lustre display.
We’re fucked without Rodri.

Couldn’t believe what I was hearing. Did he actually know we were missing/resting practically a full team?
He talks some bollocks! I was actually laughing when he said "Livramento hasn't put a foot wrong all game and he's been up against Grealish and Doku". Doku was literally only switched to the left moments before he said that comment and then Doku goes past him like he's not there.

Constantly going on like Newcastle are some sort of massive underdog on the night against a team that had no Ederson, Walker, Stones, Dias, Rodri, Bernardo, De Bruyne, Haaland

What a fucking clown.

You cant really say NUFC were great in 2nd half but the game now requires lightening pace and power, Doku was bought to add tge pace..but Jacky lad...playing out wide..can be a real drain..jog, stop, pass 5 yards back..he does shine occasionally but mostly its...the above!
At the end of the day, we knew this was going to be a very tough day for MCFC.

Personally I think Pep is pissed about tonight, but will be happy that some of our players got some decent minutes.

Gutted, but we have so much to luck forwards to and I'd rather be a blue than any other fan looking at us.

Really, do you think he would have got the ball tonight, been sayi g to my old fella, we will rue not getting Kane. He drops deep and is a far better player than Haaland will ever be. Love the viking, his attitude etc but he doesnt have Kane's guile
We regretted not getting Kane last season, clearly.

Oh well we’ll just have to settle for the treble and world club. It’s all good, there’s bigger fish to fry.

We will be fine without rodri once Bernardo is back. A double pivot of kovacic and Bernardo is more than good enough.

Hmm thanks for the insight sausage. I’ll leave the head wobble to those who do that sort of thing. We lacked strength tonight, that was my point. I’m not sure what you mean by - what did you expect? I expect bottle and effort as a minimum. Newcastle just had more. I can get over it but not ever accept it. Thanks sausage.
Your point was to jump on my post and call it bollocks without any resemblance of a counter argument other than we where weak as piss, I wasn’t expecting university challenge, but by the Christ that was basic….You saw the line up, no Dias Stones Walker Rodri Haaland, all physical specimens that won’t be knocked about, this team had Bobb Lewis & Gomez in it, hardly players you’d go to war with, Newcastle realised they couldn’t win a football match & turned it into something else for ten minutes, and fair doos got a result, You won’t hear me calling our young lads out for not being able to mix it with some of those Newcastle thugs, but if you can back your argument with something other than weak as piss I’ll listen ?

Rags v NUFC.....come on NUFC!!

Lol, jolinton wont be allowed to kick fck out of the rags players all night, he will be red carded if he touches any of their fabled "youth".

They wont be afforded the love in from sky either v the rags.

Was a bit down at the final whistle tonight but glad we are out of it now, like someone said, its better to go out now than in the semis.

Would have been nice to stuff the rags tho.

Not sure either of them were bought to replace Gundogans goals.

Having said that, let's not pretend Gundgoan was prolific by any means; he scored 8 league goals in both of his last 2 seasons, and I guess a few of those were free kicks.

Not knocking him by the way as I loved him, but it wouldn't take much for them both to get 4 goals each to match what he contributed goals wise.
But what important goals Gundog scored.
He really was a big game player.

Don't get me wrong Kova and Nunes look like outstanding signings, along with Doku.

He didn’t score against Forest. Think you mean Red Star. Tonight his first touch wasn’t there, when Bobb played him in, his touch cost him and he smashed it across the goal and out for a throw. He failed to control a pass on the edge of their box and it nearly cost us, just before they scored. He works his bollocks off and can finish, but his close control needs to improve. He’s not alone by the way!
My bad, yes Red Star, but I still think you're miles out criticising his first touch. Always wants the ball under pressure, always available for a pass in tight areas. It won't always be perfect, but there's fuck all to work on for me, keep it natural and off the cuff.

Obviously would have liked a win, can't deny that, but the bigger picture is that we're past the stage of needing to win the league Cup. We can't win everything but we can put everything into the big ones.
I'm looking forward to the club world cup.
Newcastle can have their giant killing. They've started to go a bit culty like Arsenal.

Haaland is far younger. We won the Treble without Kane and with Haaland. Of course, we could have won it with Kane but we'll never know. Tonight was our second defeat in 37 games and both defeats were with the second string. I'd say we're doing just fine.

In some big games last season, Haaland was the difference maker.
And he’s almost 10 years younger.

I think that for Blues of a certain age, the League Cup will always be an important trophy. Like, for me, the 2014 final v Sunderland and those brilliant goals (YaYa/Nasri) will always remain one of my fondest City memories. But, I suppose the world has moved on and the League Cup just doesn't matter too much any more. I was gutted last year when we crashed out at a poor Southampton, but look how that season ended! It could happen again this season...
Always matters but cant play same 11 all season, later stages of chumps league. Big prem games (6 to 8 of em) and semis and finals, thats your lot for best 11...so 18 x gamwmes tops in all comps
