Middle East Conflict

Strange that of all the horrific acts that have been confirmed in the past week it's unconfirmed reports and therefore potential propaganda that seems to be getting banded about as a reason to take a side.
There’s so much misinformation flying around on both sides - was the same in the first few days of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Social media is a scary tool when it comes to propaganda

Fairly sure he didn’t expect the scale of what happened but if he deliberately ignored warnings thinking it was going to be a minor incursion or attack that he planned to use as justification for a crack down to shore up his support then he needs to go to jail. Actually he needs to go to jail anyway for corruption but this would make the other charges pale into insignificance.
Hamas had worked out that Israel’s defences were too heavily dependant on high technology. Disable that technology And the terrorists could breakthrough to the settlements / villages. There weren’t enough forces for a safety net if the technology was compromised.

I’ve no idea why the Israeli Government dismissed the warnings. They were aware of Hamas training exercises.

Some right fucking idiots out there who believe anything that gets posted enough times without fact checking or questioning the sources, and they will be the most aggressive in their opinions too no doubt.

Russia sharply condemned Israel's strikes (according to Russian media statements) at the airports of Damascus and Aleppo.

“These actions by the Israeli side represent a gross violation of the sovereignty of the Syrian Arab Republic and the basic norms of international law. In the context of a sharp aggravation of the situation in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone, such forceful actions are fraught with extremely dangerous consequences, since they can provoke an armed escalation throughout the region. This is not the case. “in no case should it be allowed to happen,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement" ..
"

The thing is those Terrorist attacks last weekend couldn't of been stopped. The Ones which are active in front of the world's eyes at the moment can. Our own fuckin goverment has now decided to send a few ships to Israel for support. That's nice of them.
I think the US and Britain sending ships isn't to aid Israel but to send a message to Hezbollah/Iran in particular, to not escalate an already fragile situation.

So Russians and Turks are allowed to bomb Kurdish civilians in Syria but Israel can’t put transit points for Hezbollah weaponry out of action. Think that’s what they’re saying.

Some of the images coming out from both sides are awful.

Babies being tortured and executed - what human can do such a thing. They don’t deserve to live in my opinion.
Brings to mind PJ Harvey’s song, ‘The Wheel’.

‘A revolving wheel of metal chairs
Hung on chains, squealing
Four little children flying out
A blind man sings in Arabic

Hey little children don't disappear
(I heard it was twenty-eigth thousand)
Lost upon a revolving wheel
(I heard it was twenty-eight thousand)

Now you see them, now you don't
Children vanish 'hind vehicle
Now you see them, now you don't
Faces, limbs, a bouncing skull

Hey little children don't disappear
(I heard it was twenty-eight thousand)
All that's left after a year
(I heard it was twenty-eight thousand)
A faded face, the trace of an ear
(I heard it was twenty-eight thousand)

A tableau of the missing
Tied to the government building
Eight thousand sun-bleached photographs
Faded with the roses

Hey little children don't disappear
(I heard it was twenty-eigth thousand)
Lost upon a revolving wheel
(I heard it was twenty-eight thousand)
All that's left after a year
(I heard it was twenty-eight thousand)
A faded face, the trace of an ear
(I heard it was twenty-eight thousand)

And watch them fade out
And watch them fade out
And watch them fade out
And watch them fade out
And watch them fade out
And watch them fade out
And watch them fade out
And watch them fade out
And watch them fade out
And watch them fade out
And watch them fade out
And watch them fade out
And watch them fade out
And watch them fade out
And watch them fade out
And watch them fade out
And watch them fade out
And watch them fade out
And watch them fade out
And watch them fade out
And watch them fade out
And watch them fade out
And watch them fade…’

I can’t remember any of those posts but I might have missed something?
Im not tech savvy enough but here's just one

The first question I would ask is "why the hell are you watching that sort of content?"

Do you not think it might be possible to knock up fake footage and circulate it online or use footage from another gruesome event?

To which I replied I was just watching BBC news and newsnight.

I presume it’s in reference to the alleged beheading of babies, which as far as I’m aware is still actually unverified. The very fact that babies were massacred is probably more important than arguments about the actual nature of their killing though.

The first casualty of an Israel- Palestine thread on Bluemoon is the truth
Given the highly emotive and horrific scenes (on both sides) and that there are diametrically opposed partisan views, I think this thread has been a good one overall. Far better than some in the past.

I think it's clear to virtually everyone on here that there are no winners and only losers from this action. Even people who take a pro-Palestinian view have been appalled by the Hamas action and all but the most pro-Israeli are highly critical of their actions as well.
