International Matches | 15th - 22nd November 2023

Should be a comfortable routine win v a very poor side thrashed 7-0 in the reverse fixture and who offered nothing, not a single goal attempt so Lewis should not have much defending to do

He should be at right back. It’s his position.

Playing Rico out of position to play TAA out of position makes zero sense.
And this @BlueHammer85 is why people think he’s a shit manager. It is mental decision - if indeed that is the formation. And to have no left back in the squad is unbelievable. From the farce v Malta
GK Pickford - fair enough
RB Tripper - the only player with experience playing at left back playing right back with 3 other right backs in the squad
LB Tomori - what the fuck? Got hooked at ht through no fault of his own
CB Guehi - fair enough (is Dunk injured?)
CB MaGuire - I actually feel sorry for him. Southgate trying to make a point is helping ruin his career. The worst player on the pitch v bloody Malta!!!
CM Henderson - anyone who can explain why he starts still please feel free to embarrass yourself.
CM Gallagher - just no where near top international standard. The modern day Geoff Thomas
CM A-Arnold - what a terrible, terrible performance. HES NOT A MIDFIELDER!!! Why wouldn’t you play him at right back to get some confidence up seeing as he wouldn’t have any defending to do?
LW Foden - should have been in the middle from the start
RW Rashford - the most out of form forward in the country, although maybe that’s on more Rashford than Southgate considering the opposition. Should have been a confidence booster but he was awful again
CF Kane - obviously Ok

Result = 3 shots on target. Genius

A two hour CH4 documentary on Rayne Wooney after the match.

Bloody Hell, I bet that’ll be interesting !!

Complete bollox, all of it.

This England squad has got to Semi Final World Cup, Euros Final and smashing our group this year to qualify once again under Southgate

Too many are so obsessed about players that play for other clubs and what tactics they think they know best that it completely blinds them to reality - any win is forgotten or scoffed off as ‘it was only (name of country) any loss (very very rare) and it’s complete uproar.

no manager will ever please.

So which left backs should be in the squad then?
Tyrick Mitchell is fit, playing regularly and has featured in the England set-up before. It wouldn't be mad to call him up, surely.

Obviously when fit it's Shaw and Chilwell, but they're both injury-prone. If we had a meaningful competitive match tonight I'd play Trippier at left-back because of his experience. But matches like these qualifiers when England have already qualified should be a good opportunity to take a look at some younger or less experienced players in their natural position, especially in a position where the top 2 candidates are unavailable, rather than covering the position with someone who rarely ever plays there and will likely never be required to play there for England again.
