PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

How does the PL know that without an investigation? The PL are going back to 2008 with City before FFP existed. No one has ever looked at United's books seriously. They are based in the Cayman Islands. They had image rights deals with all their major players, especially Pogba and Ronaldo (mentioned in Footyleaks as well). This is why the PL is not fit for purpose as a regulator.
David Gill signed them off

Manchester United benefitted from money invested by then Chairman, Louie Edwards, who made profit by selling condemned meat to schools. His son, Martin, received a police caution for a "peeping tom" incident in the Ladies toilet of a luxury hotel. And people want to have a go at Sheikh Mansour!

What is to stop clubs having another vote on Prem FFP?

I understand why Utd,Liverpool,Arsenal and to extent Chelsea voted in favour but why did any of the lesser clubs??

Crazy the likes of WHU,Everton and Newcastle voted in favour of FFP, chances of sustained success without a rich owner..practically zero

A rich investor would also have been more likely to invest in the smaller Prem clubs with no financial constraints in place.....The owners that voted for FFP devalued their clubs in the process

Use Blackburn as an example, would Jack Walker have even bothered trying if FFP was in place?
The daft thing is that FFP is no longer an issue for us these days and it can actually be argued that it's been good for us in the long run.

Im not sure why anyone thinks the club would ‘go nuclear’. They havent in the 15 years theyve been here , despite unimaginable shit thrown at us.

2 bit hacks who have said all sorts of shit still welcomes to press conferences and matches, stuffing their greedy faces with our free trough.
Owners of clubs cheerily welcomed through the doors, despite them signing letters to have us ‘done’.

It just isnt khaldoons style seemingly. As long as when all this is over we are totally cleared i wont care how khaldoon went about his business but sometimes i wish we would take a leaf out of the hard shoulder shitters book and just kick the cunts out
There are plenty of ways of skinning a cat, they have far more class and dignity than to throwing hissy fits but I wouldn't make an enemy of them

Spurs now under the spotlight, seems Pandora’s box has been well and truly opened …does anybody believe if Khaldoon and he Mansour thought they were fcuked they be ploughing more into the regeneration of the ground etc …, a few more going under the microscope as we speak .
It's madness..play the benny hill music

I’m sorry but UEFA charged us and then found us guilty and banned us….
All the time knowing they were doing this against their own time barring rules.
So the governing body chose to ignore their own rules and ‘try it on’
That is outrageous and for any other club serious questions would be asked of uefa
Add to that it was found for the other charges they didn’t actually have any credible evidence
It was a joke then and it’s a joke now
UEFA and their external lawyers clearly believed that they could uphold that there would not be any time barring, City and ultimately CAS believed time barring applied.

Such is the way it goes sometimes in ‘court’. I don’t have any love for UEFA, but I don’t believe for one second they just plowed ahead not believing they could uphold, not least because it would be a huge waste of money to proceed with something they knew would be overturned and their biggest love is the annual profit number.

What a pathetic story. I would think all 92 league clubs have done deals with dodgy agents and probably since football started in the Victorian era. If the PL want to go back to 2008 for things like this (or Mancini's payments) they will need to apply the rules to all clubs evenly, get thousands of new staff, and put J Edgar Hoover in charge.
Agree it is a something or nothing within the context of the historic big picture.

The amount of mileage generated by the mancini contract is insane. It's such a small story but now made out to be the crime of the century.

Agreed, probably time barred.
And as the period for that is six years, surely in our case time barring would apply in the case of the Mancini payments and Etisalat ( and maybe even the image rights issue)?
There is nothing to stop those cases being investigated and conclusions drawn. What is time barred is any action as a result. Some time ago I suggested that City might want time barred cases aired but others disagreed. Another case of wait and see.

I'm convinced the EFC points deduction will be reduced to 6 points, the compensation will be capped around £20M, so substantial but achievable. However during the IC the cretin Masters "revealed' the punishment criteria was a PL in house creation never approved or even seen by the clubs. Blindingly obvious it's been drummed up just recently and conveniently. He gave personal evidence at the IC demanding a 12 point deduction!. All this was just setting the scene for a huge points deduction on MCFC if found quilts of anything. The PL have completely botched up again. They are so intent on creating a landscape to attack MCFC that they have thrown EFC under a bus. No doubt a double whammy for the dips petrified what Everton could do once they move into an awesome new stadium. Make no mistake with the right owners Everton could easily be on a par with us and the Barcodes. The rags/dips/tarqs and little poodle Spud are having nightmares with us, NUFC, CFC, AVFC and WHUFC all threatening to destroy their comfy little cash cow the PL. Bring it on.
..
It’s madness the level of ineptitude.

Everton & Newcastle will never reach City’s level. Not being big headed but there is only 1 Pep coincided with having a world class team behind him in Soriano, Txiki, Khaldoon.

Plus spending money is only a small part of the grand plan.

I think everyone knew there was an element of time-barring, just a question of which period it covered. UEFA made a case, City made a case and, in the end, CAS chose a third timing, their own, iirc.

Don't forget. It isn't the quantum of the adjustments they make that determines the FFP non-compliance, it's those adjustments pushing losses over 105 million. As far as I remember, City were well within that limit for 2014/15 through to the end of the PL investigation. I don't thnk adjustments for image rights will push us over the FFP "edge", as it were. The 30 million of Etisalat was for two years 1012 and 2013, before FFP as was Mancini as we know.

I am not sure what the transition rules were in 2014/15, the first FFP year, but we were well over the limit that year anyway, so there must have been some allowances as there were with UEFA, I guess.
Good points.
I agree that any charges that pre date FFP must be regarded as less serious, plus of course time barring if applicable.
Likewise any charges post FFP which even if proven would not breach the loss allowance must serve in mitigation of those charges.

It was done entirely for Mancini’s tax position. It made no difference to City as there was no ffp at the time and Mansour was funding us royally at the time. He could easily have covered an enormous salary for Mancini.
Ffp came in for the last year of that arrangement, iirc.
The charge appears simply to be that we did not report his salary correctly to the PL. Privity of contract might be the defence.

You can see that Gary doesn't do his homework on the people he lets on the podcast. As soon as I saw Harris on there I immediately switched it of.

going on witch hunts based on random messages on fan forums, which didn't even include anything overly denounceable (like say, death threats) with 4 likes, to your millions of followers, is incredibly gross and unprofessional behavior. You'd expect that from Harris who's abandoned his journalistic integrity years ago, but Lineker should know better.

Am I right in saying that the only thing that has brought this thread to life, is the Everton points deduction, and that nothing has changed with regards to the charges leveled against us?

And that no one actual knows about when any hearing is going to take place?

I understand that the Everton situation has sent some shockwaves throughout out fan base but it's been made clear the two situations are not comparable, with this in mind are we not going around in circles?
No shockwaves from me, just boredom.
I fucking hate international breaks.
