Luton Town (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Funny how small and tight the pitch felt and looked with the small close stadium. Thought at times we were really good but just lacking that cutting edge. In the end our class showed and got what we deserved.

I’d rest the lot midweek, fuck it and give em a rest. All about Palace on Sat and going into the club World Cup on a positive.

Best performance for a while, in my opinion. Actually won some tackles against a physical team, defended corners really well against a team that plays for them, Kovacic and Gvardiol began to look the part and we passed forwards more than back.

I think it helped resting Akanji. He's a reliable centre half but not the right fit for the Stones role. All in all, not perfect but definitely an improvement and no-one can accuse any of our players of not trying.

It was an improvement on Villa but we played quite well against Liverpool and Spurs in the first half. It was Luton. I didn’t really expect them to be very good and they weren’t.

If we do that I can see a UEFA fine coming up. They don't need much of an excuse to do us. Remember the €15,000 fine for coming out at half time 2 minutes late, keeping the TV waiting at Villarreal and the Home team fined just €12,000 for racially abusing one of our black players.

Gvardiol looked better than he has since we got him. He was much more active and made some decent passes. Still think we need a real left back though.

I thought it was a strange game because we should've won about 1-6 but I was glad in the end to come out with a 1-2 win.

The ref was appalling - they must be one of the dirtiest teams we've come up against and he did nothing to protect our players. How on earth the "2 feet in the air lunge" on Foden wasn't worth checking on the monitor or whatever is beyond me. It was a red, no question. Still they ploughed through Grealish for fun and the ref did fuck all.

I just don't think we look like a team at the moment though and honestly, when they scored I had a feeling it was going to be another of them days. Every corner they got made me nervous. Maybe the pitch was like a farmers field but we just couldn't seem to find our rhythm. I don't think we played badly, but we just didn't look anywhere near our best.

The goal from Bernardo was top class and it was nice to see Grealish get one. I hope he can chip in with some goals now.

One to take the 3 points from and move on I think...

Well one of those was one of the few ones that they came out publicly afterwards to say VAR got it wrong.

Subjective decisions, there’s been plenty in every game for and against, like there is for everyone else.
And coming in at third place is that throw in where we pinched five yards. Fuck off!

Main take from me was that we still looked a little nervy at times. Making silly mistakes, not putting enough weight on passes etc, all signs of low confidence. Whether that's due to the recent results, tactics or missing players I don't know. All in all though, a win is a win, plus we looked a thousand times better than in some recent games. Onwards and upwards

What an absolute pleasure to be in a packed away end, with very few tourists, and some great singing. I stood next to a lovely old couple (maybe in their early 70s) who sang their hearts out, as we reminisced about visiting the ground decades ago. A good mix of us FOCs and the normal coked-up kids, but even they seemed to behave. Shame that it takes a tiny allocation to bring back a fun and loud away day...

It was unreserved seating, lots of seats/spaces were empty as many stood on the back four steps. Choice really.
Talking of seating. A huge empty section in the "away end" for segregation just to allow a few Home fans in the end Block.

Give the whole end to the Clubs that will fill it ffs

Fucking joke, I never used to think this way but if you're ground ain't good enough you shouldn't be allowed in.

When watching replays of a VAR incident first half it was clear there where no decent camera angles to study the incident. Fuckin joke that games will be reffed differently at their ground (same as others we could mention actually)

Well if you don’t enjoy the other games you get to ,don’t go. Problem solved.
