Former MEN Football Editor Alice McKeegan has been appointed by the BBC as a Commissioning Producer, starting on 19 February.

I have no idea what that role actually entails but hopefully she can bring some semblance of objective order to the keyboard juveniles at Media City whose team colour affiliations match their puckered, puffy acne faces.

I guess that's a tall order with Lord Roan of Sauron overseeing sport editorial output and Simple Simon uhmming, arhhing and simpering around like a gormless ring-free Gollum for the licence-fee shilling but Alice knows the true blue hue of Manchester.

Fingers crossed that change is afoot, admittedly not immediately given the ridiculous, bloated monolith that is our so-called national broadcaster.

Separately, when did the BBC 'break' a football news story with all of their staff resource?

More widely, when did the BBC News team 'break' a story with all of their staff resource?

All too busy reading and following up 'The Times'...

I disgress! Apologies.
She'll have pretty much nothing to do with the sports/football department though, so her affiliations will have no bearing on affairs.

You do know there's a bit more to the BBC than Dan bloody Roan, yes?

Tells Alexa to play Talksport

Simon Jordan talking about Chelsea saying they'd a farcical end to last season, but thats what you get with manufactured clubs and the same will happen to Manchester City when the wheels come off there

Alexa - get that **** off
Just why?

I tried that but Alexa told me to do one.

If she's a Commissioning Producer, then her job probably involves looking at new programme ideas, and deciding which ones to make. Producer suggests she's still then involved in the making of those programmes (although I suspect all the directors and editors will laugh at that suggestion).

If she's in sport, then she might be able to greenlight Monkey Tennis, and maybe even Youth Hostelling with Chris Eubank.

Just another example of how mental football writing has become.

Because City put Omar on garden leave.

Yeah, we need to aspire to having a Chairman who looks under the doors of ladies' toilets.

Are these people on fucking crack?

I aspire to killing 39 Italians, then holding a parade on its anniversary. (You can't buy class)

Putting senior employees on gardening leave is standard practice especially in the private sector.. nothing to see here at all.

He would 100% want gardening leave - that is the best thing that can happen to you getting extra free paid holidays and not having to tie up loose ends and do a load of hand over work.

Shit companies dump a load of stuff on you in your last weeks or months, this is the opposite.

Anyway the writer looks like an obese 40 something so is probably bitter at 21. Back to Warhammer for him.

Where to start with the three clubs he names, but as for the petty decision, it'll be what's in his contract, otherwise we couldn't enforce it. Pretty standard for every employee in the country, with just the length of time changing. I suspect if I hand my notice in to move to a competitor and ask my employer if they'd mind if I joined straight away, when all my commercial knowledge is at its most valuable

Really good article in the Guardian written by Jonathan Liew, titled " In football's crisis of trust the Premier League as referee is hard to stomach"
