That's probably true given it would clearly be challenged legally, but when the issue was researched during Nixon's era the "main school of thought" was that he could do it. It's an option because it isn't specifically barred. Of course lots of things are, to your point -- doesn't mean they are wise options nor that they won't be challenged.

She has little chance of being the name on ballot in November. The Reps would rather put forward Trump (in jail) than accept he is not their best option. Its difficult to see a sequence of events that would result in Haley getting the nod. And if Something was to happen that say resulted in Trump facing a long jail term and being ineligible as an insurectionist then the GOP would be in melt down so her chances of actually wining would be almost zero.

I'm particularly impressed that one Congressman demanded that air traffic controllers not be allowed to work from home (um..) and also that Taylor Swift has a supersonic jet.

Then she's an idiot. The minute he's pardoned he'll attack and undermine her and worm his way back in as the leader of the cult. The idiots in congress will welcome him and he'll be back on the ballot in 4 years ahead of her, whether she's president or not.

If only the republicans had an ounce of foresight and spine and impeached him when they had the chance, they would probably walk the presidential election in November

Had they done this, they'd have ALL been primaried by MAGA-lunatics. Their interest isn't in Republicans retaining control or helping make the nation better -- it's in keeping their own jobs. Their speeches, legislation and interaction with people and politics is all performance art, working equally well whether the GOP is the majority or the minority. THEY don't care because THEY are employed.

Of course I agree they should have had a spine, but they didn't because having a spine meant (and still means) ending up like Liz Cheney -- honor intact, but unemployed (basically), never to return to politics. And I am guessing quite a few are unqualified to do much else.

Is it too late for Biden to change his running partner?? Gavin Newsom would be much better for him and the party if you ask me…scratch that. He would lose a lot of black voters if he did…
