They would still have to go through the process if the PL kept going even if it was clear their case was hopeless. If is going to end suddenly soon then it will be because the PL have got their legal team to state they no longer want to pursue any charges.

Would be a fantastic outcome in my view.

Edit: the equivalent of the prosecution no longer offering any evidence in a criminal trial.
