So these owners can take a hit and self fund it to keep the club going in the right direction. Ffp doesnt allow this.

Ffp is to stop this investment and could put the club out of business. All the time a club with a billion debt can carry on as normal and doesnt have to reduce the debt.

The club clearly regret the 2014 settlement. They'll fight this to the end. They know they have no choice.

I doubt very much the club regret the 2014 settlement. As Stefan pointed out, the club settled for purely commercial reasons, which is normal practice when the alternative is a messy and protracted process of which the outcome is far from certain. Since that settlement we have never fallen foul of FFP and have won the PL six times, the league cup 5 times, the FA cup twice, the champions league once and the world club cup. Oh, and become the richest club in the world! UEFA questioned our accounts - and lost at CAS. Our present dispute with the PL has not grown out of the settlement of 2014, but has vindicated totally Khaldoon's assertion of 2014 that within a year FFP would be no concern of ours. Of course, City will fight this to the end - the PL's claims are untrue!

But the IC's role is simply to decide if PL rules have been broken and, if they have, what sanction is appropriate. So, personally I agree that the rules are illogical and perverse but only the courts can decide.

Where does this £45m stem from and how is it different to Everton’s £19m ? Is it a like for like comparison . Bloody shameful / disgusting if it is !

I do sometimes wonder if the settlement agreement closed the issues of the fair values of AD sponsorships and the related party nature of the AD sponsors for UEFA and that is why these matters weren't pursued by them in 2019. I always thought it strange that they didn't push either of those at that time as they were "unsettled" (pun intended) in 2014.

Which, I suppose, raises the question of whether the PL thinks it can re-open either of those as they are not restrained by the UEFA settlement agreement?
