Have some of you lot been asleep for 8 years? League Cup aside, Pep never, and I mean never goes light in knockout football, especially CL football. Nor should he. Some goons think we should go light. What like we did at Newcastle in the League Cup you mean? If we did and they score first or we get an unlucky early red card its fucking game on and were under pressure big time and would have to pull our tripe out to try and secure the game, leaving us fucked to play those feral cunts on Sunday.

Well go as strong as possible I suspect with Alvarez, and one of Kova and Nunes coming in. I suspect Kev is rested but may get a cameo.

The plan will be score first and early. Suck the life out their fresh legs and hopefully get a second before half time, winning the game effectively and then ring the changes. If we concede first somehow we will have the personnel on the field to put it right.
There’s a difference between putting out a very weakened team and resting a few crucial players for Sunday. Would like to see Stones rested but with Akanji coming in.Kovacic in for one of our main men too. Can always have the big guns on the bench for the unlikely event we need them. Think Pep will go very strong though anyway.

We do not need to go all out to win this game , just play our usual calm possession game and see the game out , resting KDB and Foden would be an option and involve players like Bobb and Lewis , because the Dippers play away in the Thursday night cup and cannot afford to rest any players due to their injuries.

Can we afford to rest Rodri ?

Or do we play him for 65 mins and sub him then assuming we still have a two goal aggregate cushion at that point

Would really to see him rested but can’t see Pep doing that. Start with mostly same team that will play Liverpool and hopefully we can make mass changes early. I would start Nunes in this one but Alverez on Sunday

The issue being that Kovacic is also a must for Anfield and is prone to niggles that he may pick up playing Wednesday.

Can we go into this with a Rico & Nunes double ?
Can we recall Kalvin from West Ham at such short notice to “bolster” our midfield :-D

Players who are guaranteed to play: Akanji, Gvardiol, Kovacic, Nunes, Alvarez, and one from Doku and Bobb.

Guess Gvardiol is ready for 60 minutes, as he has been training for several days now.

Players who are highly likely to be rested: Stones and KDB. Maybe Bernardo, too.

Players who are likely to be rested or to play only 60-70 minutes: Ake, Walker, Foden, Rodri.

I think Haaland will start again and play 70 minutes.

Ederson
Walker (70 min)
Akanji
Dias
Gvardiol
Kovacic
Nunes
Foden
Alvarez
Doku/Bobb
Haaland

Bench: Ortega, Ake, Stones, Rodri, KDB, Bobb/Doku, Bernardo, Lewis...

well they need to come out and try to score unless they want to defend our 3-1 lead?

but that also means they need to get the ball off of us meaning aggressive pressing and aggressive tackles. lets hope ref wont allow that as last game ref was happy to let them kick us every 5 mins.

Ortega
Rico
Akanji
Dias
Gomez
Kovacic
Nunes
McGoldrick
Bobb
Doku
Alverez
