Good result, if not necessarily our best overall performance.
I think the biggest takeaway from the game for me is an illustration of how important (and good) Rodri is for our success, even when he isn’t at his best.
His first half was arguably his worst since his first season with us (though, he was certainly not helped by the setup); second half he was much better and got yet another goal contribution.
Goes off, and we not only lose his control in midfield and forward incision (which helps to pin back the opposition), but also the intensity to see out the match dominating possession.
Very few on at that point willing to have a go at others playing sloppy and instruct them where to go and what to do in tense situations.
He is a midfield general and, in my opinion, the best player in the world at the moment.
If we win anything this season it will be largely down to him (and perhaps Kev and Phil) carrying us over the line.
