He has been awful at them for so long. Plus god knows who dreamt up this new tactic of crowding the keeper and putting it front post every single time. Its never resulted in so much as a shot on target never mind a goal.

How on earth is this on pep?? Foden misses the ball completely, kdb missed a sitter? We didn’t take on chances. Plain and simple, you go to pks it’s a toss up.. who is to say kdb or haaland would have scored their pks? We should have finished in regular time.our finishing lost it for us not pep. He isn’t on the field shooting at goal
 
By far the better team, but with Haaland off the boil, our finishing isn't good enough. Foden poor, De Bruyne poor, Bernardo poor, Alvarez poor, only Grealish and Doku offering anything going forward. Trying to exact same corner again and again was insane. Haaland, De Bruyne and Foden all had great chances to win it.

The other end of the pitch were excellent, but let's face it, they didn't have much to do.

Battered them and made them look very average at best over both games. They were only in it due to two lucky deflections. Their golden boy Bellingham did nothing for 120mins. We would have qualified if it had not been for a rule change on away goals. When you get to pens it is always a lottery. Unlucky City, Lucky lucky Madrid.
 
Depends how you enjoy football as to how you see that one.

Madrid sat in from the 12th minute and have done exactly what they intended. They knew they couldn’t beat us going toe to toe so found another way. It is what it is. We were the infinitely better football side, playing our own game. Unfortunately it just didn’t win through.

proud of the lads, they never once resorted to gamesmanship across both legs, played the ‘right way’ but we’ve been beaten tactically tonight.

I do just wish we would shoot more often on site. We push teams so far back and then look to farm the ball out wide, we saw in the first leg that we can score from anywhere.

Eh? Is that the same ref who gave a free kick to the wrong team and had to have the players correct him? The same ref who made loads of basic errors? OK he may not have dropped any match changing clangers but he was shite
 
One of the most one-sided games you’ll ever see at this stage. But just didn’t do enough to get it won.
Big dogs didn’t quite deliver - Haaland and De Bruyne are obviously nowhere near their best at the moment, and Foden had a quiet night. Gutting, but proud of how we played. This wasn’t some calculated smash-and-grab by Madrid - we just utterly fucking brutalized them, to the extent that they forgot all about even trying to attack.
Shocking pen by Bernardo, Kovacic’s nearly as bad. Was he seriously brought on to take a pen?? All the more disappointing after Ederson saved the first.
 
We were better, the players gave their heart out. I would like to be pissed on anyone, but there's no one to be pissed at. Fuck cup competitions. If UCL was a league we would have 5 since Pep arrived. Fuck penalties too.
