PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Yeah, the people who think there is a secret underground cartel of all the other big clubs and the PL collaborating together to plot our downfall are the rational ones.
Have you not seen the picture of all the other PL chairman and senior execs enjoying a meal together? Or the letter to UEFA signed by nine PL clubs asking them to punish us before the CAS hearing? Or the Arsenal headed letter to the PL signed by them, United, Liverpool and Spurs?

I genuinely don't think the Prem are out to "get" us.

In my opinion, the PL have found some kind of smoke regarding the things named (Mancini, Etisalat, player wages etc) and they've rightfully done their due diligence.

However the club refused to cooperate with any investigation. Therefore the PL has reason to believe we're cheating and has no proof that we aren't.

There is no way in hell the businessmen running the club would let it go this far of they didn't have the evidence they needed to exonerate us. If we get proved guilty of everything, it absolutely destroys the clubs standing in football. And I mean actual football, not dickheads who live on Twitter or spend 8 hours a day in front of their podcasting equipment.

I believe we'll take a heavy fine for the non-cooperation and the club are prepared for that as collateral damage.

The PL let it stew too long from the announcement and we're going to let them take the fall for that.
I can’t really agree that the PL were just “doing their due diligence “. They spent FOUR years investigating us using 4 years worth of PL monies & staff time meanwhile other clubs were REALLY failing.

Oh they really did have an agenda AND WERE OUT TO GET US.

What planet are you on that makes you think otherwise? Is it by any chance a red one (in disguise)

Yeah, the PL have found some evidence, we refused to cooperate meaning they have none of this evidence to convict, and now we are paying for that non cooperation. At the same time the PL is not run for the likes of Utd or lfc and City have not upset anyone with our success over the years. Everyone is just doing their due diligence and there are no politics.

Its an alternate world that but I will consider it.
Perfect summary -:)

Exactly.

People have become paranoid to the point where they're convinced it's a kangaroo court waiting to expel us from the league to protect the "cartel".

The PL are going to come out of this with egg on their face, but there is a valid reason as to why they investigated in the first place.

If you see some smoking guns in a clubs finances and they then refuse to help you investigate it, you're going to draw conclusions. If the evidence provided proves us innocent, then the panel will find us innocent.
Yes but there are degrees & sensible options. The PL was at war - they were on a mission on the instructions of several PL clubs such as Arsenal’s letter. It has been way out of control

If they are not out to get us why has the PL gone back 15 years into our accounts looking at things like image rights, consultancy fees, sponsor deals (all perfectly legal)? We were cleared by CAS but they have not done this with any other clubs, many of whom have failed FFP on multiple occasions. We have not refused to co-operate with the PL (we did that with CAS for sound reasons).
If the PL leadership has genuine motives then why are people from our commercial rivals still being fed titbits of negative information about our club which are then being leaked to selected people in the media so they can write damaging stories?
If the PL is acting in good faith why did they break up the same allegations of improper accounts into 115 seperate charges over multiple years and then privately brief the media (The Times) in advance of their public announcement. This was designed to cause City maximum damage. They haven't done that with any other PL clubs as far as I am aware.
The current leadership of the PL has been totally compromised by their own unethical behaviour and that's one of the reasons an independent regulator is being introduced. When this case is concluded heads will roll at the top of the PL corporate structure.
Exactly

So no letter, no lobbying, no meetings?
Have an agenda by all means, but at least be sensible and don't just troll.

You would hope that the PL are hoping that we are innocent. So that they can protect the PL product whilst also satisfying the cartel that they have done a thorough investigative job but unfortunately we're clean.
Cartel will only be 'satisfied' with a guilty verdict

To believe there is no collaboration between the largest clubs in the Europe means you’re completely ignoring the G14 (then maybe G22 when expanded?)

The G14 may not be a thing anymore, but do you honestly believe they’ve all given up their power to influence the direction of European football & how to protect & grow their own assets?

Billionaires don’t always play fair when protecting their cash

Is it rational to ignore the fact that the G14 openly ran European football?

They choose to continue. Why? Who knows. Pressure to drag the process out? Sheer cussedness? A professional responsibility to get the bottom of everything?
I mean that one is simple to answer - Adam Lewis will have advised them that in his opinion there was enough to proceed with. On Mancini & Fordham that’s understandable, even if they’re ultimately nothing burgers.

The most important question is why they decided to proceed on the most serious sponsorship allegations that - barring some gamechanging documents that even if they existed, City wouldn’t have provided to them - there is almost certainly no path to success for the PL.

A cynic might suggest that with the delay between the charge sheet being drawn up and released, they were still hunting for something more cogent on the sponsorship stuff, as Mancini & Fordham aren’t gamechangers, but ultimately panicked into pulling the trigger early once the whitepaper on regulators came out..

Certainly if the PL can’t land the serious charges this case will be discussed by Business MBA’s for a longtime to come as a what not to do.

I'm not on the same knowledge level as many others on here, but I'd take issue over a few things.

The PL refused to punish Liverpool over the hacking because the incident happened too long ago. Yet they charge us for things even older.

United failed UEFA FFP last year, and by default, also broke PL rules. They haven't been charged for this, yet City have been charged five times by the PL for breaking UEFA regulations.

You say the PL has no proof we aren't cheating!! On that basis, I have no proof that I didn't mug that old lady and steal her purse the other day. Should I expect to appear in an identity parade sometime soon?

The way they sensationalised the charges against City tells me the PL have acted in extremely bad faith towards the club. They are 100% out to get us. The only question that remains is who (which of our rivals) put them up to this.

This. Its clearly a witchhunt

Did the hateful 9 who sent the letter get done for breaking pl rules ? Did they fuck.
