I am sure Taylor apologists will say that the team improved over last season, and losing Shaw for the run-in had a huge impact, therefore bottling the league can be forgiven.

But I am not sure Taylor is really the cause of the relative improvement, a better manager would have figured out a way to better cover Bunny’s absence (and motivate the team), and I think Taylor’s lack of in-game nous will hold the team back generally over the next few seasons.

I also can’t see a Pep-managed team finishing the season so timidly, which for me, should be the standard to which all City teams aspire. For me, Taylor has been far too happy (or just indifferent) with how the title challenge went off the rails. In my mind, it shows he doesn’t have the natural mindset needed to be successful at the top level.

It may be harsh, but I am quite disappointed in how the latter stages of the season were managed.

Is it time for Taylor to go ? Imo one of the best squads over the last decade has underachieved

That small-time mindset should be nowhere near the team. You don’t become perennial winners by simply accepting graciously that you bottled the league but improved compared to last season. You aren’t setting the right expectations and demands of the players or the staff by declaring this a “successful” season because you finished second.

The women need to have the same expectations as the men: no trophies, especially from a position to win them going in to the final minutes of the penultimate game of the season, and going through the motions to end the season once the league has gone, is unacceptable.

Don’t care if I come off as a curmudgeonly ****. I want the women to be as dominant as the men—many of them deserve it for all of their hard work. Houghton certainly deserved a league title to sign off. And it is a disservice to all of them to not demand the same level of excellence (and sense of failure when they fall short) as the club does of the men.

A manager shows their worth not only winning things but also when things go wrong.
When things go wrong Taylor hasn't got a clue.
He stands there looking lost, when he should be organising and motivating his team.
Hopefully they'll change it next season though they might hang fire with the female aggressor leaving Chelsea.

Not a surprise that Utd are not putting a tackle in - they are clearly under orders to not let us win the league by any means. I wonder if there will be any questions about the integrity of their performance - look at Spurs putting in some effort despite their fans not wanting them to gift the title to Arsenal - of course not the Biased BBC saying it was all about how Chelsea are going for it is the usual shite.

For us the title has come down to two matches - one away at Chelsea when we deserved the win and were robbed by the ref & our ability to battle for a draw with mins remaining last time out.

I am not too disheartened because you can see we are building a really decent, youthful squad.

I have banged on - perhaps too much - since the Euro's (yes that long ago) that we should have cashed in on Chloe - for all her ability she often doesn't make the simple pass and seems to score the really hard chances but constantly wastes the easy ones. As I type this we've had 15 mins of the second half and our England superstar has not effected the game in any way - I think she knows she's moving on..

I have seen and been part of a lot of critical stuff about Taylor - like it took far too long to play Mary Fowler consistently - but fair play the players seem committed to a better future & hopefully Neilsen, Goater and Steph hang around to keep in his ear!! One thing for sure is he is on notice that we have to do much better in the CL next year given the quality of the squad.
