I'd honestly be tempted to play Foden in the 8 position at this point, just to have someone in there who can receive the ball, turn and play a forward pass, because Rice, Gallagher and Bellingham have been nowhere near it.

Jack made way for the disastrous experiment of playing TAA in midfield, thus pushing Phil out left. If any left sided player, Grealish or Gordon plays, Foden becomes more central, Bellingham sits behind, Rice holds. We would look more balanced and threat from both sides which helps Kane. Playing Gallagher for TAA changes nothing, and putting Mainoo in makes no difference. Southgate is completely clueless.

That is the shape we should have played, with Grealish in the squad and on the left for control, Foden in the middle. But it should also have Watkins up top instead of Kane (to create space instead of reduce space like Kane does) and also we would need someone to progress the ball instead of Bellingham. Wharton should be there, not Jude. We have a fascination with names and a total disregard for chemistry and teamwork.
