Personally I think they will win it all, I admit the football they have been playing is dire. But you don't need 5 star performances in these tournaments to end up winning the whole thing like the past has proved.

players lacking confidence mainly , players dwindling on the ball, sloppy with it and giving away possession alot of the time. I don't think any of that is down to the manager.

playing Trent in centre mid didn't work for us and that position has been a problem for Southgate to rectify. could he have dropped Bellingham there instead to play Foden number 10 role? probably may have worked better but who knows. could he have played just rice holding and gone more attacking? maybe. its all too easy to constantly criticize, everyone has different idea of tactics and formations, just becomes tedious in the end.

I wasn't against the line up he went with tonight. moving Saka left back was a good move and Toney sub changed the game for us. into the Quarters once again. Happy days!

Foden did OK I thought - was forcing the passes a bit however compared to the rest of the England players was probably in the top 3 or 4, such was the lack of quality.

City players play a system of players running channels and spaces to create the triangles. At England, even though Walker, Stones and Foden are all playing, the other 8 players are like playing Charades with foreigners. The signs look kinda familiar, but the words get lost in translation!

Foden thrives in that space between the defensive lines and the 18 yard box lines. He can turn on a sixpence and can shoot with almost no back lift, but he’s played wide on the left to accommodate Beliingham’s desire to play in that same space, and then they end up holding hands and killing their own space.

Their respective heat maps had about 85% overlapping the Group Stage, with Bellingham’s being predominantly two groupings in wide left midfield and even wider left wing, further out than Foden’s!!

As for Walker, sometimes he plays RB, sometimes RWB, sometimes RCB in a 3, as it depends who we are playing and what stage of the game we are in. In some games he plays all 3! Unfortunately, just like Foden, his supporting cast isn’t as supportive as he’s used to.

And then, when you look at Stones, you’ll see him constantly pointing to where he needs the midfielder to be…and not always to pass to him, but to move the opponent out of the lane he does want to use to pass. I’ve noticed Stones has been trying to force some balls through gaps that aren’t really there, because his teammate hasn’t made enough space for that pass, but Stones has to make a pass because he’s being closed down.

It’s an orchestra and if the conductor is crap or the First Violin is out of tune, it sends the whole orchestra off kilter. Pep is the maestro who, often coldly, conducts the City orchestra, and if you play out of tune you’re off and might not see the field for a few games (Grealish?!) because he can’t have you screwing up the entire orchestra with your poor music.

I don't see what's so funny I have said many times I much prefer to lose playing good football than win playing fucking awful football with players with bigger egos than their ability. Spain are playing well and Georgia are playing well on the counter. Much better game than any England game.
