See the issue here is you believing Putin, and by extension Russia, are amenable to the effects of diplomacy. We're talking about a terrorist state that has now inflicted suffering and claimed the lives of hundreds of thousands of people. We're talking about a gangster that rigs elections and kills political opponents that are a threat to his demagoguery. He poisons expats on other nations soil; remember Litvinenko? Just last week a children's hospital was bombed on the orders of this ****; do these people deserve diplomacy, or do they forfeit the right to diplomacy? Putin is a Peter the Great obsessive who wants a return to a soviet empire, he wants all Slavic peoples and their sovereign nations under a Russian umbrella.

When the wall fell, Russia was on course to be democratised and embraced by the West. Putin has eroded all that goodwill with his insecurity and Russia has subsequently regressed to it's hitherto pariah state. I highly recommend a book called The New Tsar, it details just how gravely Russia has regressed as a nation over the last twenty years: the sole reason is Putin.
 
Am I the only one who found the Secret Service's reactions totally incompetent?

I am finding it hard to believe what I saw. When an attempt has been made on a President's life the SS agents should immediately take over with extreme force and consider everything and everyone a threat.

Trump should never have been allowed to stand up, ask for his shoes, or fist pump.

They should have covered him up, and literally rag dolled him to the car. Even against his will.

Often in these situations, the asset is often the greatest impediment to his own safety.

They looked incompetent. The mike on stage should have been cut off , and we should have never seen Trump's face from the second he was shot at till the end.

Dude kept sticking his head out at every possible turn. On stage, being led down the stairs, at the car.... What the fuck?

Anyway, glad he is alive. But jobs should be lost on that detail.

That's what I thought, just couldn't believe they let him stand up and walk to the van, they could have been more than one assassin

I know they're trained for it but who knows how you'd react to being shot at never mind shot, not something that happens every day even in America. Sure some on here will have better knowledge but I thought they did pretty well perpetrator was dispatched in seconds and the security services surrounded him instantly which must take some balls when bullets are flying.
 
Reading this threads post since last night it's frightening how many Trump supporters we actually had on here. Why did they only just start posting when he was shot?

Couldn't agree more. The fact the guy got a shot off in the first place is pretty insane but I guess mistakes are going to be made at some point.

But the fact they allowed him his photo opp afterwards is borderline comically negligent.

Maybe they aren't Trump supporters maybe they just don't believe in killing political opponents in a democracy, strange idea I know but you should try thinking about it.

He probably has a better chance of winning the election now, thanks to the events of last night.

Trump has had it wrapped up for a while regardless of last night's event. Just a matter if it's a clean sweep with the Senate & House now. Which looks likely too.

Maybe try to resist mislabelling sexual predators responsible for the suffering and deaths of countless people simply as "political opponents."
 
Whatever people might think about Trump, and personally I think the world would be a discernibly better and safer place without him, anyone thinking his assassination would have done anything other than to make matters even worse and divided in the US is wrong. And there would also almost certainly be severe consequences for the wider world following that.

History has shown us previously that political assassinations can unleash forces that cannot be contained or predicted.

I've kind looked at the bigger picture, How many lives are going to be lost when he comes into power. He's already stated Putin can fill his boots in Ukraine. Will be sending even more weopens to Israel and wants them to finish the job on Palistine. That's without the deaths domestically.

99.9% of people who are on Blue Moon can't vote in the American elections, so what does it matter, give it rest FFS, everyone is entitled to their own beliefs whether you like it or not

They are not necessarily Trump supporters. Just people who find it hard to accept that some people want someone else murdered in cold blood just because they disagree with what they say. What is frightening, and also very sad, is the number of anti-Trump supporters on here who wish he was dead today with his family grieving.

Which is precisely why many are suspicious.

Secret Service do not behave in this way. But if they had acted as expected then Trump would not have got the ‘iconic’ picture currently doing the rounds.

It’s curious for sure.
