Paris 2024 Olympics Thread - 11th August (pg 430)

You are but our teams are getting larger as we become more competitive.

50-70 medals predicted by UK Sport.
Yeah, I guess.
I know in athletics for example, we had athletes who got the qualifying standard, but Team GB wouldn’t take them, apparently because the selection panel didn’t think they had top 6 potential. I don’t think all other countries apply the same thinking.

That Zidane to Nadal handover will probably be an iconic moment. Best French footballer of all time handing it to the best clay court player of all time.

surely Andy Murray will be handed it next coz he doesn't support England lol

It took three hours before it became remotely interesting, then they ruined it with speeches, and then a long wait whilst the boat takes the torch to wherever the flame will be lit.

we all know where this ends - "Royaume-Uni - null points" lol

Technically I think we're Grande Bretagne this time!

The big issue with this approach is because they've distributed it over such a large physical space every segment has to run longer than it's natural span of interest. The tower light show is a good example, a few mins would be decent but it's dragging because of the distance the torch needs to cover. Most bits have been ok but needed to run for at most half the time they have run.
