But if we had two people close in on Gabriel with no attempt to get the ball, he'd go down and it'd be a penalty. They do corners like American football and get away with it every time. Someone was saying they were just 'holding their ground.' They weren't. They were deliberately running into Ederson to prevent him from moving towards the ball.
shit , weak defending

Hope everyone who was up for the "lack of control" without Jack, in the pre-match thread, is happy.
Jack offers no more control but with the added benefit of no threat.

Also their two goals were a left back from 25 yards and a corner. How would Grealish have stopped either of those you moron?

rat and that **** on tv thinks it’s eddies fault
I love that take.

What is he meant to do, fling them out of the way or charge through them, shoulder lowered?

He’d give away a fucking penalty.

And that is exactly why Arse employ those corner tactics.

Sometimes they will be given as a foul, sometimes they won’t (there is absolutely no consistency, even within matches themselves, from officials), but it always heavily advantages the attacking team.

So when it isn’t called, you increase your chances of scoring substantially.

That is not to say we defended those two corners well—we didn’t.

But allowing the opposition to surround the keeper, with absolutely no recourse to do anything about it, is making a farce of the laws of the game.
