Car Insurers you are a DISGRACE

Hopefully their car department is better than their house insurance. Aviva are the biggest set of cunts I've ever had to deal with in regards to claiming for something. Heard their life insurance is even worth once you pop your clogs so moved that elsewhere.
They are all as bad, I just treat car insurance like a protection racket. Something you get nothing out of but if you don’t pay it then woe betide.
The only claim I’ve ever made was via Hastings and they were utter cunts as well, maybe it’s a prerequisite of being in the industry.

I recently retuned from many years in oz, no claims in 20 odd years. I couldn’t find a company to honour my NCB because it wasn’t earned here, even though it’s in clear English and it’s from the RAC.

Just under 2k I had to pay, I’m in my 50s without a claim since I was about 30. It’s a fucking disgrace they are allowed to get away with it.

I tend to alternate between Direct Line and A.N. Other, I had a claim a few years ago and Direct Line were fantastic. If they didn't bump up the price for year 2 I'd stick with them.

I'll second that, including dealing with a claim.

I sometimes get them to drop near to other quotes and I'll do another year but yeah it's DL.... someone else....DL in general.

Just called my insurance company to renew and inform them of a change of address, tell them I’ve retired and will be driving fewer miles due to not commuting to work. My original renewal quote was £450 but after amending my details the new quote was £1100 !!!! After ranting about why such an increase they offered a £50 discount WTF!!!! How can that increase be justified, BTW my new address isn’t in a rougher area

Any car insurer that isn't offering you a significant discount this year is ripping you off. Tell them to fuck off.

I`ve had a Car Insurance Quote from my existing Insurers Swinton to confirm my new Direct Debit for the forthcoming year.
I stupidly forgot last year to "shop around" but overnight I did and found that Santander were offering a good offer for me. Nothing had changed from last year and I`ve enjoyed 9 years No Claim Bonus and even includes my 40 year old daughter, who lives in Bulgaria but stays with us occasionally and uses my car.
So my new Insurance with them is a nice £465.40 for this nice FOC and his daughter and includes a small monthly fee for taking it out as a monthly Direct Debit.
I called to tell Swinton that I would NO longer be renewing with them for next year and the dear girl at the other end was lost for words when I asked could they match Santanders quote. ;)
The robbing bastards at Swinton wanted £978.40 for exactly the same insurance.
Talk about money grabbing gits so my fellow Blue Mooners who constantly stay with the same Insurance Company for years, spend an hour or so looking and shopping around when your new policy is ready for renewing.
I suspect most of you already do this.

always shop around at renewal - a pain but one that has benefits. There are some things you can't control which I get - for instance my car insurance with protected bonus, legals etc @£350 a year but a lot of that is about where I live - rural, quiet and low risk. I drive an older car which I can influence obviously and restrict mileage to 12k a year as I am retired now.

Interestingly my Dad at age 86 is talking about swapping out his Audi Q3 auto because of insurance costs - he baulks at my suggestion that maybe as he is 87 in 3 months time that may well be an influence too lol

When we moved to a Gorton a few years back, I phoned up my insurance company and gave them the new postcode.

They cancelled my policy on the spot.

My wife was slightly more lucky. Her quote went up from £275 to £3500.

Not read all the thread, so apologies if this has been mentioned already, but if they are going to make you spend the tim and energy to get an alternative quote or shop around, sign up for a cashback account and use one of their comparison sites and you can get £40 or so for your trouble.

You might have to wait a while to cash it, but it doesn't half make you feel better about it to play them at their own game.

try RAC

Re the "shop around" guff; I tried that when my renewal email came in. Couldn't find anything within €200 of my current insurer. €412, fully comp, NCB protection, €300 excess, emergency overnight accommodation, windscreen cover, the usual stuff.

Car FC, and home and contents under £300 together. Both did go up a little last time.

Maybe no one is likely to steal my car or break in my house.
