PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

I've tried to explain why in my opinion other sports are responding more favourably to investment.
With regards to football the original point was whether the kickback against investment was based on racism.
While this may be a factor in some people's opinion, for me the cartel clubs are against this from a purely protectionist position.

Whilst I get your point, it seems in cycling which is a team sport I haven't heard any anti UAE involvement apart from they have a bigger budget.
Indeed scruffy Jim team has fallen away and most top riders want out of ineos.
It's horse racing the same as cycling horse owners want to win but do they moan about the middle east pumping loads of money into UK horse racing ?

Because other sports' governing bodies aren't run by and for the benefit of a select few privileged clubs.

The PL has some "evidence" that what they allege has actually happened. We know that from the leaked emails, but we also have to assume they have more "evidence", for more years, from their investigation.

The problem for the club is to show that something that didn't happen, didn't happen. The way they did that at CAS was to get an independent auditor to look at payments from ADUG and show none went to Etihad. It's a start, but it's not wholly convincing (the money could have come from another ADUG company, for example, or be routed through other companies or come from Mansour's personal accounts). By the way, this is why control of access to external information is so important. The club can now control, to a great degree, the information it provides to the panel, and in what format they present it. Anyway, together with the witness statements that it didn't happen, including statements from Etihad that they didn't receive any money from ADUG or Mansour, which CAS found compelling, it was enough to sway the majority of the panel, with comfortable satisfaction, in favour of the club's position. The audit report(s) this time will be different and the witness statements presumably also, to cover the greater number, and specificities, of the 115 allegations. So much for the club's problem.

The PL's problem is that their "evidence" is entirely circumstantial, as was UEFA's, and they have the burden of proof to show that the alleged behaviours, on the balance of probability with a high degree of cogency, actually took place. UEFA couldn't, and I very much doubt the PL will be able to, either. Certainly not on the most serious charges.
Yes again this is it. The case against us is dead in the water. UEFAs case was a sham and so is this. They can spin as much as they want - it will spin literally 360° and guess what end up back where it started . . .

Part of the point surely is the selective nature of the sportswashing criticism. Some funding from the UAE seems to be perfectly fine while some is immoral and outrageous
Long may the southern based 'journalists' (who are happy to ignore lots of shit going on in this country including the promotion of with drawing from the EHRC) have to travel up to cover the best team in the world, from London, on shit transport like the rest of us.

(Manchester airport was a shit show again yesterday)

Agreed, with the proviso that nobody can ever be sure of any outcome. It's certainly an uphill battle for the PL, though. And we know how they usually end.

We’re owned by Etihad? News to me and everyone else in here I expect.

you know that's not what i meant.

Do you honestly think that any blue thinks we're owned by Etihad? when i said "we're owned and sponsored. they're just sponsored." i was obviously referring to the UAE. i clearly meant that our ownership and main sponsors originate in the UAE whereas with Arsenal its only their sponsors that are from the UAE.

i doubt anyone else failed to get that.

"Genocide washing" I believe is much more of a disgusting Money grubbing exercise than any alleged sportswashing bullshit. Strange the press or media morons never mention it.
thats a good point, whilst rwanda has rebuilt itself to an extent it is still listed in the top 10 worst countries for human rights.

this point is probably best used as a response to any arsenal fan that references sportswashing

I’ve been very confident about the outcome up to now but just heard some Scouse “comedian” say as we’ve been charged with 115 charges we must be guilty of some and the other teams should stop playing us!

Was great whilst it lasted.

Perhaps they should all refuse to play LFC as their shirts advertise a company that has been found guilty of laundering money for terrorists organisations?

Week 4 of the Trial of the Century.

Let's imagine the scene in one of those plush suites inside the NDRC. We have PL Lawyer speaking and Panel Member.

PL Lawyer: May I refer the panel to Item 1, the alleged email from Mr Pearce on the 1 April 2012.
Panel Member: Is this the item you referred us to 12 times in week 1,18 times in week 2 and 28 times in week 3 ?
PL Lawyer: Yes, correct Mr Pearce's alleged email.
Panel Member: In relation to what charge is this concerning?
PL Lawyer: This is in relation to the grass cutting non compliance charge for 2013-2014.
Panel Member: How ?
PL Lawyer: Let's not get too bogged down with any specifics of the email, as we believe it illustrates the malevolent disregard for the PL rules that permeated the executives of MCFC. An attitude of contempt for the rules which led to a complete disregard of the grass cutting regulations.
Panel Member: Oh Christ Almighty, not again, what time is Lunch ?

I wonder what his views on prejudicial lies in the media about Hillsborough are.

I really hope the people of Manchester boycott John Bishop’s gigs after his poisonous tirade against City on TalkSPORT today. His comments saying clubs and rival fans should boycott games against City were despicable, especially as he lives in Manchester. His claim that: “There are 115 charges so we must have done something” showed him to be a total moron. It’s always funny when the mask slips from people like him.

And when LFC caused EVERY English club to be banned by UEFA for 5 years, because of Heysel, did the other clubs stop playing them ? Or did they ask them for compensation ?. Never let a dipper try to adopt the moral high ground...

What a scouse twat. Saw him at O2 once. Won't be again

We are owned by Sheikh Mansour 75pc and SilverLake 25pc(approx). I get your drift but it is wrong to use a broad phrase like UAE ownership unless you believe that Sheikh Mansour is not allowed to invest his personal wealth where he wants. It is a nuance but an important one.

I don't get how that man has had a career, he's not even funny. He talks at a snails pace in his dribbling scouse accent and just tells random stories that are fucking boring.

He wasn’t joking either. There were no caveats and he came across as angry and bitter. Listen to it on catchup. Pure poison.
He's probably still bitter that Jason Manford phoned him up during our 2014 title-winning parade and got thousands of fans to sing the "Steve Gerrard slipped on his fucking arse" song at the ****!

Prefer to puke in my morning brew mate
You are right of course but his comments were shocking because of the tone he used. He just went into an angry rant in the middle of a jokey conversation. He was asked about his team LFC and went off at a tangent about City.It was a surprise given the context. It was pure hatred.
