City launch legal action against the Premier League | Club & PL reach settlement | Proceedings dropped (p1147)

I think delaying the FMV of our sponsors is further proof they’ve been acting in bad faith. I wonder if anything shows up from emails about this & interest free loans from owners.

This is the main takeaway for me.

They passed an unlawful rule (after being told by City before the vote it was unlawful and would get turned over)

They broke their own procedures in a way which was deemed unfair 5 times over 3 sponsorships.

Going into a bigger legal battle in the 115 case, it's good to know that the PL have been shown to not follow their own rules, act unfairly and pass unlawful rules.

I know it has been posted in the thread, but I just wanted to give it another direct link to the article (rather than the archive link) so that clicks and engagement could be driven to Samuel’s excellent content for those with access.

These outlets only really care about what content drives the most ad revenue and so we should be very selective about which links we share. But I think, even if it gives The Times some revenue they could use to beat City with later, this is content that should be supported and amplified by blues.

Seismic verdict for football that leaves financial rules in tatters

The Premier League overplayed its hand and now the whole concept of PSR is in the bin. Man City’s legal victory could have huge consequences for some clubs

Spin and counter-spin of already exceptionally technical business legality shot through hyper-partisan football fandom. I couldn't think of a worse way of delivering information.

Khaldoon and the directors of MCFC...;)

Hope this doesn’t get missed….but can someone clarify/explain the bit about shareholder loans?

What’s good or bad about that?
They weren't counted towards breaking PSR rules. Now deemed illegal so Arsenal and others are in the shit.

From an Arsenal perspective this isn't great for us. The main ruling I see from this that impacts us is the fact that club owners can't give the club loans without having fair market value interest charged.

At present the Kroenkes loan the club £250m and as football is a risky business I'd say fair market value interest rates are around 8% so that's an extra £20m that needs to be factored into FFP moving forward.

Mate I have no sympathy for your club, none whatsoever. They, along with the other usual suspects, have tried to put our club out of business and smear every single achievement we have had since the takeover.

As a fan of that club however I do have some sympathy for you, even your more horrible gobby fans. As fans we are powerless what goes on behind the scenes. It's not the fans fault.

Just been trying to work out how the PL and BBC can claim that it mostly went in the PL’s favour. These are the previous two pages in the document that list where our challenges failed. The PL are using it as a fig leaf to cover their embarrassment at finding that their rules are unlawful.

SSN: We are going to start with a partial victory for Manchester City

It is a partial victory but the points City lost on are pretty irrelevant.

It's like losing your Euromillions winning ticket, suing to prove you bought it as you have a pic of the winning ticket, being then awarded the £200m jackpot by the court but also losing a separate claim to cover the costs of your sandwiches when waiting for the verdict.

Does anyone have that picture of the sheikh joking in a group of people, with the title "and I said, would cash do" or something along them lines. Seen it on here years ago probably after CAS. Would be nice to see it again.

so...who win?

It’s easy to decide who’s won. Which side was on the right side of the law & which wasn’t.

The premier league are acting like Peter Sutcliffe. Found guilty of multiple murders but cleared of kerb crawling.
Just had a quick gander at the usual suspects Twitter and no shock that Crafton the ****, Ogden the odd’un and Delaney the dick are all reporting that both sides have won small victories and things are just as they were.

I fucking despise the lot of the snidey shithouse cunts. Even when shown that this is a huge win for City they are determined to paint a different picture.
I’d never tire of punching all 3 until my fists were worn down to blood soaked stumps.
