City launch legal action against the Premier League | Club & PL reach settlement | Proceedings dropped (p1147)

Didn't the "judges" also say they found the omission of interest free loans from the owner not only to be intentional but also to be "akin to cartel price fixing". Acting is as a cartel is about as serious a violation of competition law as there is. To my mind the only course of action open to the PL is to end all the bluster, all the defiance, to ditch the cartel and begin serious negotiation with City, the other PL clubs and the tribunal to figure out some cost control measures which are fair to all and, above all else, lawful. If this is the first step it is to be commended, but there's a long way to go and much work to be done. It may mean that Masters has to have the balls to tel the cartel that they're on their own, if they can't compete that's tough but football is under a new, fairer regime. And there could be the problem of UEFA and there regulations which may/do have elements which are unlawful, but the PL has to conform to our law.

The Times are leading the way on this story. As they done pretty much since day one. But they seem to have changed their editorial position to be more sympathetic to City. Perhaps City's comms team are being more proactive. It's just speculation from me but I wonder if The Times team know what is in the emails between some Club Directors and the PL. Tolmie has suggested those emails are damaging to the PL's 115 case. Perhaps the Times (and the Mail) want to end up on the winning side. It certainly looks like they are going after Masters.

We may not like it but they are following the story and initially that pointed to us but the light has revealed the juicier story for them and it’s going after the cartel they now can see.

Call it aggressive but really all we are doing is insisting that their rules conform to UK law which is in their rules.
If they fail to check new rulings in future they are aware of the consequences so are either being deliberately provocative or acting under orders from the red cartel who may have a different agenda.
Yes, we won but the letter that followed was a bit more than just insisting they confirm. It was an attack on the PL.

I can’t really work out how that happened if the PL knew at the time it was going back to the tribunal. There’s no rational reason for them to do it.
Maybe an attempt to save face, and then try and bullshit their way out of whatever came further down the line. Masters' looking beyond incompetent now.

Wonder if City will force a no confidence vote. Reckon they could get at least seven clubs in support. Possibly double figures. He’s fucked it it’s eight or more imo. He will lose all authority if 40% of the clubs say he’s not fit for office.
I don't think it matters and I don't think City are interested. City don't want civil war, the club wants rules which are fair and lawful, allow clubs to grow without favour and presrve and protect the standing of the game. Our club isn't interested in imposing its will on anyone so much as succeeding through football.

The cunts don’t know what they’re doing?
It could be argued they did with the 115 smears, reputational and financial damage they have done to City that the cunts do...but...the shitstorm that they could face if City win that one would suggest they don't know who and what they have taken off, and really don't know what they're doing.

That's a very good point. Brands supporting even red cartel clubs may be worried that obvious lies and bias will eventually damage their public perception. The BBC had better learn from this experience and educate their sports staff.
Interesting angle if people over their heads are getting jumpy.

Everything is unravelling in a very big way. Tough times for the PL and its cartel. Only the strong will prevail. The PL had the audacity to call us cheats even though we were cleared of wrong doing at CAS. Its a bit rich on the basis that they have knowingly breached competition law by object. Anyone that defends the PL regarding the APT case is clearly prepared to defend the indefensible. SKY, you are guilty of such. Be warned.

Fair point.

Trying to control my rage Mr K style with polite language.

I am so glad the careful and finally firm methods City are using is simply dismantling the media circus bribed by the red cartel.

Never thought I would say it but Mr Pannick is worth his fees.
He'll be worth every penny when costs are awarded to us!

Given that Masters presumably signed off the PL statement on Monday that said that "these elements can quickly and effectively be remedied", then he was either being disingenuous, or simply failed to grasp the matter at hand. Either way, it hints at fairly lamentable leadership from him.
You would think his legal team surely must have given him the go-ahead to do it?

It really is unbelievable.

And the winner of the masterly understatement of the year is….
