City’s New Kits

What a load of fucking nonsense, Already talking about the kits for next season.

Most people have just forked out hundreds of pounds for the latest shirts for themselves and the kids.

Give people a break ffs
Then should you be posting this in this thread at this early date? Just wondering...

Yes I should be posting this in this thread seen as it's the "City Kits Thread"...

The whole point of my post is that it's too early to be talking about new kits seen ad we are only in October if the current season...Most people have just bought this seasons multiple kits.

So your post makes absolutely no sense, Quit being a smart arse seen as you are incredibly shit at it.

Yes, most people have only just bought this season's kit, but next season's won't be available to buy until next summer so it makes no difference. You do understand, don't you, that Puma and the other manufacturers need to be cracking on with new designs constantly? They don't come up with them on a whim a fortnight before the release date.

You aren't posting a message to somebody that's an imbecile, So really no need with the "you do understand, don't you?"...You aren't talking to a kid, Unless that's just your personality and you like to feel above people.

For what it's worth, Yes I do understand shall I call you Mr.Cellarite, It takes months to come up with designs and they don't just be done off the cuff, It's really not rocket science.

Anyway, I think it's bollocks, Apologies for having an opinion Mr.Cellarite sir.

I wasn't trying to be condescending so apologies if you read it that way. In your first post, you said "People have just forked out hundreds of pounds for this season's. Give people a break."

I'm merely pointing out that there's nothing more to fork out until next summer when the new kits, which have to be in production now, are finalised and released.

I did read it in a sense to be condescending, Apologies on my behalf for taking it up wrong and snapping at you, I do apologise.

It's a more tongue in cheek saying as in "Give people a break", I've only bought the kids the new kits with names on the back ect and already talking about new ones. I've already the kids asking me when next season's one is being released as they are seen it on Social Media!

I do understand that Puma need to come up with designs months in advance to have the new shirt ready for release next summer and it won't be available to purchase until then, But still seen all the new images of next season's shirt it has a feeling of "Ah come on give us a break"

Apologies again for my previous post to you.

And my apologies to you. We're just two blues who have a different opinion on a subject but could be stood next to each other next Wednesday against Sparta. I love all things kits. I have around a dozen books at home about the history of kits. My middle child's Sunday league team were the best dressed in the region because I was the coach and insisted on them having home and away kits throughout the 11 years we were a team.

My three kids are more grown up (youngest is 16) and either buy them for themselves or aren't particularly bothered but I've gone through the phase of them wanting all three every season. The umbro year with the black away and sash third was particularly difficult. I remember going to a home match, armed with a large amount of money and a head full of sizes and squad numbers in my head. I had to abandon them in the Cornershop pub with my Dad whilst I went to the shop to buy them all so they didn't know. So I feel your pain.

I just get all excitable about what next season's kits may bring whereas people like you may need a 6 month lie down after buying them all one season, before you ponder the prospect of the next round. All good blue.

Same as always. Nice kits get forgotten if we win fuck all in them, shit kits get looked back on fondly if something happens while we wear them. Sometimes we win stuff in great kits.

Horrendous! Sashes are for 3rd kits.
Home kit has to be traditional, the kit designers can go crazy on the 2nd & 3rd kit
It would be boring if we just stuck to traditional plain designs every season.

And we have barely stuck to traditional City home colours since the 1940s. Sky blue shirts, white shorts, navy socks is traditional City:

I’d have those colours for the shirt, shorts and socks every single season, just with some different designs for them. But we’ve diverted away from our core traditional colours by changing sock colours and shorts colours many times.

Before 1933 we’d never had a white collar on the kit. If a kit had ever had a collar previous to that, it had always been sky blue. People now think a white collar is traditional City.

We’d never worn solid white socks before 1960.

Before 1962, we’d never had solid sky blue socks before. Now people think that’s traditional City.

Before 1970 we’d never had a badge in the middle of the chest.

Before 1976, we’d never worn sky blue shorts and never had manufacturer stripes down the arms… only ever seen again with the 1997-99 Kappa stripes down the arms with the laser blue kit, with that colour change being another non-traditional thing (which is was never in favour of, by the way):

Before 1987, we’d never had a football net design nor a collar like this and we’ve not seen either since, but it’s one of my favourite ever City tops:

We’d never had diamonds nor a navy collar before this 1989 kit:

Before 1991, we’d never had navy flashes on the arm or strange wavey pattern:

I’m all for having a completely traditional solid colours like what we were formed as a club as in 1894. But we do need something a bit different every now and again. As long as the core colours are sky blue, white and navy I don’t mind if there are some different patterns, stripes down the arms, flashes of colour here and there or a nice sash… sashes are more traditionally City than a football net pattern or diamonds and they are classic kits.

The middle shirt is my all time favourite, I had that and the maroon away shirt, class
