Lucy Letby infant murders trial

I certainly think the framwork exists around this case for it to have been a white watsh against her (I have no idea if she is guilty or not). But, a large company comes under the spotlight for business malpractice causing deaths. A public that wants answers. Victims who want justice. Media doing what they do in feeding the frenzy. Its all very much like the PO scandal scenario where large companies (With the help of various players) paint a totally different picture than the truth.

When I worked in care (I no longer do because I could see this coming), everything pointed down at the carer. For example, we had a client who's fridge wasnt working and for months everyone was told to freeze the milk, cold meats, yoghurts, etc and defrost them each day for use then refreeze them at the end of the day. We made a complaint from the start about poor hygiene practice and that we didnt like doing this. A couple of months later there was eventually an investigation. The council (Who handed out the contracts) wanted to know why this was happening, the care company (who were suddenly under the spotlight) performed an investigation and found that all staff that entered that care residence were guilty of not sourcing a new fridge. (Client finances is something the care company control, they have stringent measures around it for obvious reasons).
So... Everyone was happy, the council, the care company, the performance charts, the council funding. Everyone except the staff who had initially complained, they were told the standard of care was very poor and got warnings.

And that was how it worked, everything pointed down at the worker. Scape goating like that happened all of the time, and this was a minor thing in the grand scheme. Its why I got out, I loved the job and am still friends with some of the clients but it was obvious if anything happened it would ALWAYS be the carers fault. Whistle blowing just doesnt exist either, you speak to the council and they speak to the care company, and they find you guilty.

Not saying this case is like that, but we have precedence in this country for that behaviour, I think it should be a recognised danger too, there''s just too much power in the hands of business when it comes to employees versus business.
 
There’s been something not right about this case from day one. I can’t bring myself to hate her as I have the murderers of Olivia and Elle in Merseyside in recent years. People like Fred West or Harold Shipman were also evil bastards and I hope they’re both in hell.

I had five spells in hospital in the last two years and never realised how hard nurses work and how much they actually do. When my bag burst or my cannula fell out… Sorted in seconds with no trouble.

The jury was not unanimous either.
 
Shame we can't just almost kill the bitch by shutting off her supply of oxygen but then turning it back on when she's almost gone. Just do that repeatedly til she actually carks it.

What makes you say that?

There's a lot of talk around this case. Lots of experts suggesting there are flaws in the conviction based on evidence assessed, although I note that in the majority of cases they weren't present at the trial and are only commenting on a single aspect. There's a hell of a lot of evidence that supports the conviction. Some of what I've read makes it look like the only evidence was her being on shift at the time of the majority of the deaths, and that being sufficient, but that's certainly not the case. It's a hard thing to prove unanimously, because there were so many deaths over a lengthy period of time and no one saw her killing anyone.

But she's guilty of killing some of, if not all, the babies. And she needs to fucking rot in my opinion.

Why didn't she call any witnesses apart from the maintenance guy or whatever he was ?

Her defense team came across as being pretty poor.
It won't be the first time somebody has been caught up in the legal machine and spun around. If you are an innocent person with no police interaction or dealings with the justice system your entire life you're fucked. You will think, "I'm innocent, surely they will see that, I've done nothing wrong." Sadly once they get something in their heads and pursue it you realise you're totally out of your depth and probably screwed by people very used to the system.
 
I'd love to see a summary in bullet points of the evidence in the case against her.

Because to me, I've seen that the babies were poisoned and there's no denying that. And she was on duty at the time of each one.

Surely no one is that unlucky as to be on duty at the same time as various other baby killers.

Unless I'm missing something, it seems very reminiscent of the Beverley Allitt case, insofar as Allitt was reprimanded based on her being the only one on shift at the time of each death. I don't think I can ever recall seeing anyone making a case for Allitt being the victim of a miscarriage of justice though

One of the things since brought up since the trial is that the data from the ‘time table’ only related to children while she was on shift. There were other children who became sick in the same way when she wasn’t on shift and these were left off the table which was produced by the prosecution.

Not sure that is the motivation. There are definitely gaps in the evidence that has found her guilty.

That doesn’t mean people necessarily believe she isn’t guilty, merely asking whether it has been proven beyond reasonable doubt.

Her notebook ramblings suggest she’s a wrong’un, but that on its own doesn’t make her guilty.
