Not only were they not consulted but any dissenting voices were given a lecture on their own club’s history by Neville. Telling them that the club had changed colours several times over the years, so it was no big deal.

I followed the take over quite closely at the time in the local press because I did used to have a soft spot for them and follow their fortunes, without ever actually going to a game.

Very few of the pre takeover fans seemed to welcome the change of kit. And a small number walked away. I’d say the majority view was that it was unnecessary but worth putting up with for the plus side.

They still occasionally organise ‘tangerine ‘ away days, where they turn up in old kits or just everyday orange clothes. Which I imagine is a bit of an embarrassment for the owners.

It’s a shame that lot are associated with Salford. They aren’t a ‘Soccer Club United Manchester’ club, they’re a club with nearly a century of history and never had a link to United before that lot got involved with them.

I hope they have to sell up and Salford get some more ‘neutral’ owners with no links to any other big club in the area, and do will with them.

I won a Cup final at Moor Lane with our junior football team back in about 1996.
 
Peter Lim, the billionaire behind Nevilles many failures has lent Salford 21 million.
He is no longer a part of the club.

I hope he doesn't ask for his money back.

That’s on top of the money he’s invested in the Bootle St complex through Gary Neville, together with Hotel Football at Old Toilet plus the old Stock restaurant

Lim owned the united cafe franchises in the far east.
The so called class of 92 were always over to promote the cafes on behalf of rag central.

I assume they saw a goldmine and made sure they befriended him

The rest, as they say is....... comedy gold.
