Last weekend I posted a beautiful song by Kate Bush, a favourite of mine but evidently underrated, called Sunset which contains the wonderful line, “Who knows who wrote that song of summer that blackbirds sing at dusk…” I always have a reflective moment at that.

In this one, Kate’s shrieking the gaff down and making donkey noises. I was listening to this back on release and I said to a mate, “I can’t get my head around this vocal, what the fuck is going on…?” He looked at me blankly for a few seconds then somewhat aghast replied; “You listen to Punk.”

I looked at him blankly for a few seconds then I said; “I’ve got my ears plugged in wrong haven’t I...”

From that day on I didn’t listen to this song like it was Wuthering Heights, I listened to it like it was London’s Calling. Obvious, really.
