The Bernie and Kovacic midfield combo is boring me to sleep. I love them both individually but they’re not offering anything together. You’d assume they’re being preferred to maintain possession and offer a bit of protection but that’s just not happening.

Kovacic is a 6/10 player with the odd good game thrown in. Will never be more than that.

We’re just not as good as we used to be.

We’ve gone from mostly excellent signings and with odd duds, to the odd good signings and mostly just ‘okay’ players for the rest of our signings or promoted youth players.

2017-18 and 2018-19 City would beat 2024-25 City about 6-2.

It was always going to happen at some point becsuse we were so good and to remain at that level is just too hard to do. The good thing is, we aren’t that far away from having another great side as long as we pin point the weak areas and buy more players who are in their prime.
