Good player but not a leader and can't play as a LCB. He needed to lead the line and control situations being the most veteran defender out but couldn't do it.

Had a mare tonight. I’m just watching the second half. Was caught out and missing on a few moves. Kept running to the right rather than keep to his position.

He’s still a good player just didn’t have the best of nights. He’ll be ok.

I think we need to recognise there's players who currenrly aren't fit, he didn't look anywhere near fit to me, same with walker last weekend.

With peps decision to play such a risky way, his 1v1 defending and pace is essential, need to get him fit.

So if even the players on the pitch aren't fully fit why the fuck is Pep persisting with this suicide setup ?

I'm a big fan of his, but he has to be injured. He's always been lackadaisical, but his effort this season has been a disgrace.

Very obviously not fit.
Our back line yesterday in order :
-young, maybe not in his best position
- a baby
-exhausted, injured
-exhausted, young

Add to this a back for that has never played together - and no left sided or right sided pairing that typically plays together.

Could they have played better, yes? But I don’t think this game is entirely their fault. I wouldn’t throw a single one out with the bath water. Usually we have the strength elsewhere to compensate for a bad day or an injury. That was just too much yesterday.

He has been the best defender at the club by a huge margin for the last 12 months, he is clearly nowhere near 100% in terms of fitness' at the moment, anyone questioning this guy needs a long hard look in the mirror.
He should of been nowhere near the starting 11 on Tuesday night and it showed. Just shows what a desperate state we are in defensively when we have Akanji who could hardly run partnering a kid who's never played CL before.

But had Walker and Ake on bench, who both played Saturday, albeit both shit

He had to play that was the problem, it was just getting 11 players on the pitch.

Indeed. He's brilliant and it was clear that he wasn't anywhere near fully fit. He wasn't as mobile and was wincing going into challenges.

I think we all have seen enough footy to know that a back 4 that never played together can't be perfect, esp. away at an in form goal giddy opponent, at a moment when everything for us couldn't be much worse.
We have to consolidate and keep calm.
