Leroy Sané

How come on the one hand we seem to have a small squad, which is one of the reasons injuries have affected us so much, yet every time someone suggests a signing others go on about having to make room in the squad!?

I don’t see rags or Chelsea, Arses having issues with making squad space for signing new players, why do people keep saying we do?

Sané would be a decent signing, we desperately need pace in the side. It would be awful to see him at one of the red shitholes.

we have a couple of spots open without having to sell yet. we're fine

We have 2 spaces, 1 if Echeverri takes a space just the 1 ,although Rodri probably doesn’t need to be registered, but we might leave it spare just in case.
If we bring somebody in it won’t be another winger when we have Savinho and Doku. If we fill that 1 space it will be a midfielder or possibly a full back.

We have room for 3 players in my opinion. A winger is not really the problem honestly until/ unless Grealish leaves. The problems are the RB, DM, CM and soon 10 position.
 
From memory, he wasn't an automatic starter in his last season (that he was fit). Pretty sure I remember seeing him running down the touchline in his sub's gear celebrating one of the goals at the must win last game of the season at Brighton So; two questions....
A. Would he come back with Pep still here? And

B. Would Pep have him back?
 
No chance of him returning unless he’s become a defensive midfielder or a right back and I somehow missed it.
 
I loved Sane when he was with us, Class act.

Seems like he's took a massive dip in form and his career has been at a standstill since his move to Bayern.

The old Sane is better than every winger we have currently.

And the current version? He's four years older now, he suffered that dreadful injury and, as you admit, his form has dropped off a cliff in the intervening period. He won't be the Leroy of the centurions season.

We only have room for 3 if we don’t register Rodri and Echeverri. If we do then we only have 1 space.

Having checked there are currently 15 free slots taken up, 4 homegrown slots and 3 homegrown club trained. This is based on champions league squad. 22 total.

I have not included, Bobb or Echeverri.

Bobb would take the remaining 4th homegrown club trained spot and based on his injury comeback plan one would expect that to happen. That leaves 2 free spots.

Rodri is a question mark for 2nd half of season but City don’t need to make a decision until the cut-off time for later stages of CL, so may depend if it looks likely he can play a part in the end of season matches. If not included will free up another spot making potential for 3 if we use all 25 spots.

Echeverri, the club have said they want him to be at City in January. That position may change if City feel another signing would be more important.

So 2 free spots if don’t include Rodri and 3 if not including Echeverri in squad.

EDIT: Rodri was already included in CL squad for first half of season so edited above.

I wouldn't want Sane back, He's nowhere near the player he was at City, I genuinely think his name would have been mentioned along with the likes of Zaba, Vinny, Yaya ect had he stayed with us, He was sensational.

I actually thought he had one of his better games for Bayern against us in the Champions League in 2023, He caused us all sorts of problems. I would have liked him to do well at Bayern, I think most City fans would want him to succeed as we've a lot of time for him.

I don't have any hatred for him (struggling to think of any ex player that I "hate"). He seemed to be influenced by his mother (or was it his girlfriend?) to move back to Germany. Like you, I wouldn't have him back now. He's not the player he was. What's that old saying; never go back, is it? Look at Ilkay; he's a shadow of the player he was two or three seasons back.

spots wise yes, but you can only make 3 changes, we couldn't sell 5 buy 5 and register them all etc. its 3 in at max regardless. lucky we;re right on the brink.
